fair enough, but then you guys at 246, and at O Lounge, should get together and work out a cross promotion. they do friday nights and you guys do saturday. work something out.. actually get a good scene going on in hamilton.. for years ive seen politics in this city.. and its gotten the scene no where! so for the longevity of electronica in hamilton.. WORK TOGETHER!

Posted by mickmack on Jan-24-2007 02:52:

all i can say is that the scene in hamilton is pumpin' right now!

just look at the next two months:

deko-ze, greg gow, anthony attalla, manzone & strong, sydney blu, bole, chris briscoe, brad copeland, mark oliver, nathan barato, carlo lio, jelo, and j prez.

i don't think i've ever seen this many top notch dj's in hamilton during such a short period of time.

A school bus flled with mac students arived around 10:30 and by the time the second bus load came at 11:30 the club was at full capacity. Really good crowd came out. everyone was very nice and probably the cleanest drug free crowd I've ever seen at an EDM event. Everyone had their hands in the air all night. I'm not that into trance, but Hamish Campbell and Justin a.k.a. Pier 2, kept my attention and made me dance all night.

I'm definatly looking forward to the next one

Avoid reviewing your own event if you are the promoter or associated with the event - it looks really lame.

You should just close the place down lol.

Long live the O!

His "INVOLVEMENT" with this event makes him "ASSOCIATED" with it thus making his post "LAME"

Really?
Isn't that what promoting is all about?
Cause he's definately got me interested now.
I'm not taking any sides. But this party sounded like it went off. It's sooooo good to hear!

Dood it was off the hook and if you love trance as much as you say you would have been in heaven. I know I was......

Hey child, read this just so you understand that its frowned upon if you are reviewing a night you are "AFFILIATED" with (IN ANY WAY)

And if you want further evidence just ask Jeff Button. That guy used to get nailed everytime for posting a review for a night he is "AFFILIATED" with.

So... lets say I was a dj (which I am).
I opened the night at 9pm.
I stayed the whole night and thought it was unfuckingbelieveable.
It would be lame if I started a thread saying how good I thought it was?
Because I was associated with the party?
Am I getting this straight?

If you are a DJ returning the compliments the partiers are commenting you with then you are in the clear

Throwing a comment in there saying you had a great time is somewhat ok (within reason).

it wasn't my event homie. it was a Trance at Mac event held at O Lounge...which I do the friday nights at. So am I not allowed to give my review about an event I went to? you're involvement with this thread and not having been to the event is lame.

now. the next Trance at Mac event at O Lounge will probably be a collaboration between Nightdreamer (me...thus making this post lame becaue of my involment in the event ) and Trance at Mac on our friday night, and the event will remain a Charty event.

lol....by the looks of it, my small comment (which was uncalled for) about another club in hamilton has clearly stired up some shit.....now this thread got lame.

signing off on this thread.
see you at The O (and probably Barcode too )

lol, child.. if you really want to resort to name calling be my guest. ive been in this scene for a long time doing promos, and it is never lame to review your event. never. thats how true promos work. i don't need some TA telling me how to promo an event. whenever you do promo, you tell people how amazing the last one was.. word of mouth is your most powerful tool.. now would promos really work if you said nothing about your party? keeping your mouth shut would be considered lame.

A promoter raving about his own event isn't looked upon as a "credible" review. What else is the promoter going to say about his/her night, it was bad?

Think

Thanks Owen I think thats an appology. We aren't trying to compete with anyone, just doing our own thing. But its not just one club we work for its 10 weekly. So we take what we do very seriously.

Let us know if you and your crew want to enjoy yourself at Barcode and I will add you to our VIP list and escort you to a booth.

arrggg..I said I'm not posting in this thread, but just for self defence, I'll post some pics I took later on. then we can see how credible my initial post.

and anyone who knows me know I call em how I see em'....if it was shit I'd say.

of course a promoter is going to say good things.. and yes i agree if a promoter is going off and raving about how good his party was, but in this case it was different.. owen was just a partier for this event.. and i agree, this event was off the hook!

You assisted in locating a venue for the event constitutes more than just being a clubber. You were "affiliated" with the night. I find it hard to believe that you kept quiet about this night not telling a single soul about it.

Who are you kidding?

I've been involved in the industry by djing, organizing and promoting events in Whistler and Vancouver BC for years mate! And in NO WAY is saying good things about your party considered lame!

What's the difference between telling people how good a party "was"... and how good a party "will be"?

Wouldn't it be considered more lame to hear from someone saying that a party is going to be off the hook or will be the best party of the year... even though the party hasn't even happened yet??
By your reasoning, the same concept would apply.

Please mate. It's our job to get the ball rolling and tell people how good, fun and exciting an event was or will be.

Only if the mass decides to speak their opinion about how shite something was, then it makes the promoter sound lame and not credible.

A promoter reviewing his/her own thread "raving about it" can't be taken seriously. There have been many threads about this on trance addict. I dont want to have to search the archives but believe me they are not credible reviews.

That's like having Ron Popiel rave and tell you that his "set it and forget it" rotisserie chicken oven is the greatest thing ever.

lets put this into context. your favourite club in the world is lets say guvernment.. you go there everyweek, you get on guestlist ect. then you bring friends, tell your friends ect.. are you affiliated with the club? isn't that basically the same point you are trying to make?
