K-HOLE FTW11!!!!
Actually the best cure for depression I've found is opiates. I can be having a complete shithole day and after I take some of those everything is ok. The only problem with them is tolerance but if a doc is managing your dosages and you are getting them legally thats not really a problem.
Personally, if I were depressed I would much prefer that to an SSRI. The side effects of them are shit and if you have to stop its hell. I have two friends, one came off effexor and one off of paxil after long term use. The guy on the effexor had to go back on after he had a manic episode and ended up in the hospital.

One thing I find interesting is how we in the West have this culture that completely accepts anything for which the doctor write a scrip but demonizes things like private marijuana use.
I find it very ironic that we as a culture are completely willing to become addicted to some our doctors prescribe, but we're ready to jail the guy with a joint in his pocket. Amazing!
This is all personal opinion of course, and I realize that both have their risks/benefits and pros/cons.

| Originally posted by XaNaX I fully agree with you on this. Because doctors are in a highly respected occupation people just take what they say as gospel and don't question it. However doctors are people too and they make mistakes so as a patient it is your right and duty to question what they are doing. If your doctor doesn't like it and cops and attitude its also your right to find a new doctor. Doctors also get taken out to dinner and to play golf and shit by drug reps who are trying to get them to script their drugs to their patients. This kind of shit influences what they prescribe if they have multiple courses of treatment available. |
