No need to be so rude... besides i've heard Americans and People from other countries say it..

we use the same terminology.

and LA is good for trance. we get almost everyone you can imagine.

LA is the best place in America for trance (however I've only been to Las Vegas , San Diego, and LA). Specifically Hollywood, lots and lots of top notch clubs in Hollywood.
But I wish I lived in NYC. Besides the outrageous cost of living there I think I could find trance on a daily basis in a City the size of Manhattan.

i would say either la or miami
i read their forums once in a while
they have weekly trance parties with local djs and they tend to bring in more lesser known trance djs
here in nyc it used to be like that with lesser known djs then stoped and it was just about tiesto, ferry, pvd, armin
but last few months things have been improving
but as of now i would say la and miami plus the weather is nicer there

cheers mate...

My girlfriends looking more into california, Does anyone know of clubs in that area? and whats the area like? and the best parts of California in general?

Posted by Spacey Orange on Jan-25-2007 20:27:

san francisco for sure. enough clubs and events to satisfy you AND you can actually get around without a car. i have a friend who's lived in both places for years and recently faced the decision between moving to SF or LA, and chose the former.

Unfortunately most Americans call any kind of EDM "techno".

Americans invented House and Techno. I really don't think I have to say anything else.

two genres i really love

Posted by Zild on Jan-26-2007 01:43:

And what is Trance if not something that came out of House and Techno? I like to have a little bit of respect for the history of the music I enjoy. Only a closed minded person would be unable to recognize that there are great songs and shit songs in all genres.

Some Americans invented a lot of genres of music, but most of them have remained in their niches unless they became commercial.. the true vibes of most genres has arguably stayed in it's niche of origin unless it's taken on another form.

This is just how music scenes work.

Some people from Chicago's gay post disco scene and some guys from NYC invented house. Some people from Detroit created techno with the help of some dudes in Chicago and some other dudes from Germany.

Posted by Zild on Jan-26-2007 01:48:

Exactly. Therefore to say that Americans don't know about music is absurd.

Posted by JohnCoffey on Jan-26-2007 01:56:

Its the same here you get people who call everything with a kick "dance music". its just those people that don't know piss all about it but you can't claim a whole country is the same... Every where you go you have small minded people or people that aren't educated on some things so its not the persons fault, maybe instead of slaggin said person or people... explain to them.

You totally missed my point.

Believe it or not not ever city in America has some really deep tradition of music...

I'm not really sure you had a point so I took the opportunity to make my own. Sure not every American city has a really deep tradition of music but then again a lot of them do. And not just electronic music either we invented a whole lot of other styles of music.

i respect all genres i mightnt like them but i respect the work put into them and time to make the tracks sound perfect.

i said that thing about america in a tongue and cheek way but since it has came down to this i think americans havent let music evolve and have been stuck in the same routine for quite a while. this is my opinion and how the american music scene is perceived here.

I think you're defense of the average american is understandle but baseless.

personally.

I wouldn't defend the 'average person's' taste in any country. Look at the record sales, statistics reveal the average american's taste.
