Does this mean I have to listen to the samples again?

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-01-2007 09:38:

It most certainly does

Why in goodness name did I convince you to participate in the ID contests when I hosted my first one? Bit me in the ass once before...

That's all I care about anymore. 'Tis the Holy Grail to have a unique left at the end.

Just so y'all know, I won't be home tonight or monday so I probably won't be answering your PM's. Keep sending them in though.

...tumbleweed...

Not much happened over the weekend, as I expected. Dj_Es-Dva makes a run for it and scores a tied second place with benjamin. Subtle thought it would be a good idea to guess something to everything and sure enough, he scored 9 points with that method. I'm not telling you should all do that, though, since it's really tedious to go through those

Most ID's:
6 - 18
5 - 33, 37, 39
4 - 03, 22, 26, 30, 32, 35, 43, 44, 47, 49

No ID's whatsoever:
01, 02, 04, 09, 11, 14, 17, 21, 29, 31, 40, 42, 45, 50.
As you can see, there's still plenty of points and uniques up for grabs. And if someone doesn't get 50 soon I'm going to be very very disappointed in all of you.

4 days remaining...

FYI;

There may or may not be some last minute hints thrown here in the last couple of days. Keep your eyes open...

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-07-2007 16:13:

3 days remaining...

...so here are some hints which may not be useful at all

01 - Furry, cuddly toys from Sweden.
02 - Rather chilly fellow did a track about something that's always out of batteries when you need it.
04 - M25 motorway?
09 - This device agrees.
11 - And God said... what?
14 - Using carbon paper to produce one or more copies simultaneously with the creation of paper documents.
17 - Guitarist/singer committed suicide by jumping off the roof of a church.

More to follow...

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-08-2007 09:42:

2 days remaining...

...so here's the last scores table before the finishing date:

isoterra 55 (+6)
Dj_Es-Dva 49 (+7)
benjamin 47 (+5)
GroundLine 45 (+7)
Subtle 31
montana 23
Fundamental 18
Camwin 13
[mart] 12
limin_li 12
Zenchowdah 9
EvilTree 9
Aabech 8
Subey 8
Psy-T 3
HaeD 3

Unique ID's:
isoterra 3
montana 3
GroundLine 2
Dj_Es-Dva 1
Fundamental 0 (-1)
[mart] 0 (-1)

The race to the top spot is really heating up with the entire top 4 being within 10 points of each other. There were a few people who got the previous hints (some of which I must say I'm quite impressed!) so here's some more to tighten up the competition:

21 - Big addict and a number.
29 - One of the main characters in the 1831 novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo.
31 - These guys created just about the most known guitar riff ever.
40 - This guy has about seven million aliases. This particular one is also a name of a movie.
42 - More than fabulous.
45 - Originally sung by Mylene Farmer.
50 - Probably the most influential band anywhere ever and a fitting title to close this comp with.

It has come to my attention that Benjamin is a bastard!

I demand you rescind your answer to #40!

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-08-2007 20:29:

Yeah, that'll work

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-09-2007 19:32:

Oh my...

I'm advising all of the top 4 to squeeze out every little point they can possibly get because the differences are going to be extremely small.

Yes, which means you have a bit over 12 hours. I'm leaving to work now and when I come back I'm pulling the plug on this one.

So get crackin'!

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-10-2007 19:59:
