Posted by existenceman on May-01-2007 01:43:

sounds like an interesting 2 cd album
ATB has a nice mood in his chillout tracks.

Posted by Trance555 on May-01-2007 02:17:

Hi
CD1 really sux, it's pop.
why not make collabs with paris hilton and britney spears?
it will sound the same.
the cd2 seems ok , i m not a fan of chillout,i like uplifting and banging trance.
Mr.ATB, if you read this post,
why does a very talented and skilled producer like you produce only 3min pop tracks and not real trance long tracks like tiesto , above and beyond for exemple did in tri state and elements of life?
I m not a big fan of you anymore since i listened to CD1 and trance is dead for me if legends like this turn into cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.

ATB's music has almost always been pop and cheesey and short. Sure he may have a few longer tracks, but even on Movin' Melodies, most tracks were 3 to 4 minutes in length on the album. He's just gone more vocal-pop on his albums after Movin' Melodies, some CDs have more vocals than others, this being one of them. ATB almost exclusively makes this kind of stuff (over the top, catchy melodies, sing songey vocals, mostly the same or similar sounding basslines), with chill out thrown in (which has potential).

i m sorry in movin melodies the songs are longer.my favourite album is addicted to music, it's very melancholic album, i like it.if you listen to trilogy CD 1 and No silence, you will the notice that from 2003 to 2004 with no silence, he completely turned in pop, there is no feeling when i listen to no silence or trilogy.i just don't understand why he doesn't produce 5 or 6 min tracks like before and trancier, it's a silly .in trilogy CD1 , the songs are only 3 or 4 min, just the time to be on TV and catch a wider audience.i m sure the next collab will be paris hilton.i don't want bash him but he introduced me to trance 4 years ago
and now,he produces shitty pop,it's disapointing.

Maybe a little longer but there's like 15 tracks on the CD, so the majority of them are edited (I own it). There's still a few longer ones, but he's still...pop music, first and foremost. He's not some underground producer, and his music is even more pop than the stuff on Anjunabeats or Armada. Maybe to you he turned pop, but to me, he's always been pop-trance/euro-dance. Paul van Dyk was a more prominent (and mainstream) trance producer IMO, cause his stuff was more consistently trancey (meaning each track is like a long journey). Most PvD tracks average out at about 7 minutes in length, each, while ATB's, even the stuff on Movin' Melodies, at about 4 minutes each...hardly "trancey". You really can't build a track much in 4 minutes. He's more about quick fixes of melody, rather than sheer rushes of euphoria and energy as trance is. It's fine if you like that, and in some music I do, but as a trance producer, I don't think you can take him seriously as one.

i m sorry but summer rain 136 bp mix is a pure trance track, believe in me is also trancey and housey.if you listen to his first single like the summer for exemple or fields of love,it's trancey for me, it sounds like the old chicane for me or sunlounger now.the single renegade a&t mix is trancey for me, i like it.on sunshine radio, he introduced four of his new tracks(justify, renegade, alcarda, beautiful world).we discover a longer mix of justify and it sounded trance to me.it would be good that instead of making 11 pop song of 3min,he makes 11 "CLUb mix" or "a&t mix" in the album.PVD is trancier but i don't like his songs, it's boring, his songs are noise.another way only is great trance tracks.at moment i m listening to new artists like kamil polner or adam nickey because the legends are dead.only tiesto went back with his new album.

Whatever, to reach your own. But PvD IMO is a more serious trance artist (maybe not so much his new stuff) than ATB ever was or is. ATB makes better melodic dance-pop/trance-pop than PvD, but PvD is just someone whose had more impact on trance than ATB. ATB, to me, is in the same league as Ian van Dahl, Lasgo, and DJ Sammy, there really is not a huge difference between them. Maybe his music isn't quite as silly or cringe inducing, but is still euro-dance. "Another Way" is a great track, one of my favorites, and IMO is produced way better than "9 PM (Till I Come)". Not saying ATB sucks, I own all of his albums and PvDs, I just don't take him as serious, like I said, as a trance producer like PvD, or even other german guys like Taucher and Sven Vath, Cosmic Baby or even Schiller, and some other german trance producers.

put ATB on the same scacle than dj sammy or lasgo is insulting him.his music is unique and you can't associate him to anyone, his music is very refined.i m just disappointed that he doesn't produce longer tracks on his albums.

Quality wise, he might be a little better than they are, and like I said, not quite as silly. But he's still more similar to them than other trance/dance producers. His music is mainstream, it's catchy, it's super-accessible, it's pop..it's always been. You hardly hear him produce stuff that doesn't have either some female singer singing about love, or the rain or sunshine or whatever or with over-the top melodies (his first album had mostly that, the singing was minimal to none, now it's lots of singing with over the top melodies combined). Thats not to say that it's bad because it's like this, but it's not on the same level of sophistication as Paul van Dyk, BT, or Oliver Lieb, or any well known trance producer.

Sounds great to me. Judge it on its sound, not the producer's name.

I agree..he hasnt done a good 'trance' album since 'Dedicated' back in 2002, but ALL his chill-out tracks are class

Same. <3 ATB.

Just like Matt Darey and Gabriel & Dresden, he has turned to popslush.

i have this album. Love CD 1...cd 2 i hate and dont even listen to anymore.

Posted by Spirit5 on Jun-21-2007 05:24:

The only really good EDM track on CD 1 is "Beautiful Worlds" the rest is pop music. CD 2 on the other hand, is great...I agree with the others..it is one of his best and he can definitely do great chill out music. I think he's more of a melody guy than a beat guy anyways, his beats are nothing to write home about...though some of his basslines are pretty cool.

Posted by Trance555 on Jun-21-2007 05:34:

i like the cd though i don't listen to chillout.cd 1 is pop, i don't like.i don't understand why he doesn't make a real trance album.

Posted by meneedit on Jun-25-2007 04:01:

Are there any tracks reminiscent of the album "Movin' Melodies"?

Posted by genscape on Jun-25-2007 16:19:

Searching for satelite

Posted by mmmskyscraper on Jun-26-2007 06:55:

CD2 is pretty darn good. Almost a sequel to the second CD of Two Worlds. Searching for Satellite is amazing, as is 9am (not sure why its called that) and Shine On. I don't care for pretty much anything on CD1, Heather Nova's voice gets tiresome very early and by the end of the songs she's on, I'm thoroughly annoyed. The male vocals are pure cheese, and it seems like he puts much more effort melody-wise into both CD2's.
