Yes come jump in this thread! Just make sure you don't make a mistake when you list your favorite minimal artist! Because if he isn't truly minimal, those hardcore minimal historians will goooooooo mentallll!
Anyways, most people go by what the artists releases are listed as on beatport. Therefore when they like a song by Booka Shade and its listed as minimal they'll probably relate to that as minimal. Most people don't read about how past minimal/genres sounded like so they go by the modern sound.
Modern minimal sound lacks a lot when it is compared to past minimal...it was deeper and I'd say a lot more hypnotic.
I think artists are making too much use of the supposed minimal meaning; something that lacks emotion or metaphorical meaning and depth. Though a lot of releases still have some meaning, I can't help but stress that the majority of todays releases are purely mindless crap.
And this goes for all genres, I don't even think progressive house even exists anymore, everyone is jumping on the electro house band wagon
