-- wtf is going on in mexico?
Pages (4): « 1 [2] 3 4 »
I think stuff like this is going on more frequently and has been for quite sometime! I think the combination of the Media sensationalizing it and our pussy-ass goverment not doing anuthing about it has caused a Domino effect with publicizing each and every incident!
I mean getting into fight in shady Cancun Nightclub is one thing... Being Robbed and shot to death in your hotel is another!
Thats why Im going to Cuba!!! The streets are safer, the Water is less rough, the sand is softer in mu toes and most of all the "Chica's" are Nicer... and cleaner!!! lol

You have to be pretty poor...the only places you should be staying at are resorts. There 5 star resorts are beautiful! I've been to several 5 star resorts and did not find one single problem with them! |

A Canadian girl is missing in Vegas with no leads. I guess we should stop going to vegas! Whats wrong with the US? 44 Canadians killed there since 2000? What an awful place!
PS: i hope the media sensationalism on mexico continues as im looking for a really good deal on a vacation at the moment!
... looks like its gonna be mexico after all!
Jay's back!
Looking at the murders in toronto is irrelevant when deciding whether or not to go to mexico.
I'm not saying I wouldn't go to mexico now, but I certainly would let these recent events factor in my decision.
First of all, you are choosing to go on vacation. Certain places are safer than others. It certainly appears that in Mexico at the moment, tourists are being targeted, and if something happens adequate police response is not the top priority. This does not leave one feeling particularly safe when travelling to mexico as a tourist.
Certainly tourists are targeted everywhere, whether it is for purse snatching or mugging them, but murders being covered up by mexican authorities is pretty extreme in the "factors influencing my decisions" category.
The murders in toronto, more often than not are for a reason. Whether its gang violence, robberies or any other reason most often they are a result of some other thing, and not random.
Like I said, I would still go to mexico, i'm not one to let things like this totally take over my decisions, but i don't think you can write them off so completely like others here are suggesting.
Cuban prostitutes are cheap
"Mi amigo you like?...20 pesos"
"Ya I like but in Canada I pay 10 pesos"
"Okay 10 peso is okay"
Gave me a whole new meaning with Sex on the Beach

Places like Acapulco and Cancun attract a lot of tourists as well as criminals trying to rob/kidnap/murder them. Let's be honest here for a second. If you look like a tourist, you'll probably be a target. It's just how it is.
But it wasn't the case here. The Ontarians got caught between the fire.
Police can only do so much. And because of organized crime many of the policemen are working on both sides of the line. This is only one of many problems facing Mexico right now.
President Calderon seems to be working hard to stop, state by state, any organized criminal activity, drug-related that is. Anyway, that's for some other discussion.
As far as I know, all of these incidents occured in public places. It's not Canada, it's MEXICO so everyone has to be prepared to face the realities of the country they plan on visiting before they go there. Dont buy drugs from strangers, don't pick fights, don't put yourself in a situation where the police could be involved and you will be fine.
And as for the Cuba comments, they are constantly checked for STDs so thats never a problem. The Cuban Healthcare system is superior to our own.
I think it's OK to visit as long as you aren't from Woodbridge.
Now... Jamaica is where I'd be scared to visit. I heard on the news that since the beginning of 2007 there has been 300 homicides in that country already.
they must be running out of weed
