Why is moron invading house?

Posted by Whirloop on Feb-05-2007 23:11:

I always thought making a main 'strictly trance only'-section to this forum would be a nice way to get all the (pardon me) junk away.
Ofcourse 'the junk', or should i say irrelevant information on this once trance forum, could very well exist on this same board but NOT in the (once) trance section.

I see no reason to kick the houselovers (or whatever) out as long as they got a place were they won't spam the section i find interesting and relevant to me. In other words, make an alternate edm-section for them to roam in.

Trance Addict has always been a great place to look for trance related news and meet cool people, but as the forum has grown the past years there has been a lot of 'influence' from other genres.

Like i said, make an alternative section to a forum and make the main one a strictly trance only so we who doesn't want to read about 'house' find our relevant information with ease.

Thanks.

Sorry i had to make this text large so people would notice and understand there is a nice way to solve this issue without ruin peoples lives.

This forum has always been open to discussing all types of electronic music and will stay that way.

You are missing my point.
I wrote that this forum will and should be open to all types of music.
It just needs a better structure so relevant information if found were expected. This alternative section should not be hidden away though, just one click below the main one.

Do not take me that literally ladies and gentlemen.
And besides, i'm not the one to tell other people what's good or bad for them.

I think that most people's tastes (that have been listening to EDM for quite a while) have evolved from the trance phase we all went through during the late 90s/early 2000s, where we now enjoy house tunes. Theres nothing wrong with it, its hot right now and doesnt sound cheezy.

Try these out for size if you can find em

Electrixx - Second Lesson (Monosurround Remix)
DJ Delicious - Let it Drop (Henrik B Remix)
Underworld - Jal to Tokyo (Paul Woolford Remix)

No I'm not. The music discussion forum has always been one forum open to all forms of types of electronic music and will stay that way.

I agree... If the forum wants to get a boost and grow this is necessary. There are a lot of people who don't dare to post about trance here anymore.

I think it just depends on what you call "trance".

If you want a separate forum for ASOT whores to feel special in, I think you'll run into the same problems. I personally like one big forum related to electronic music. This way I can keep up with trance, psy, house, prog, techno etc...whatever the various members decide to post about. It keeps people open to new stuff.

I doubt. The very reason why this is such a good forum is because it's not favouring one style above another. Don't underestimate peoples laziness. If this was a trance only forum people would listen to nothing but trance. But since its open to all types of EDM people get in touch with different styles and that in the long run is just healthy.
If you want nightmare comparisons just go over at trance.nu where people don't know any DJs besides Tiesto and AvB. You'll come across people there who believes trance was found by Tiesto in Holland in the year 1999.
I believe in: widening your musical horizon = good for everyone

Man, I would jump at the opportunity to post about trance.

Posted by Whirloop on Feb-06-2007 00:33:

But why stick with one music forum just becuse 'it has always been like that'? I'm sure when this forum was born, the amount of users, threads and posts were not the same amount as of today. Things were easy to keep up with since the constant flow of new threads was low back then, and if it still was like that i would not bother. But now things are different, we have about 70 000 registered members and a good number of them i'm sure is posting stuff here regularly.

Some people say that only one music section is good because it keeps TA from getting into a place full of narrow-minded trance elitists, and that splitting the music discussion into one main and one alternative would only make people interested in the main one. I don't believe that's going to happen because of now people seems very well interested in the alternative type of music and i don't see why they would give it up just because a new section is created specificly for them.
Also all these threads appearing about 'trance dead?', don't you think it means something, that people wonder where the trance have gone in this forum?

Maybe the 'strictly trance' section should be the alternative one then if the amount of people interested in trance is decreasing. Maybe that's why some people feel that the trance related info sometimes is hard to find here.

I think you've got the causality mixed up here.
