Wow your examples have opened my eyes Spin Doctor.

Now I know the terminology and these examples really help me get better. =)

Thanks again!

umm paul van dyk in mayday 2001.. when he did happiness ---> flight 643..... man i loved that part.

Cheers Spin Doctor.
Definetly try some of those tricks.

I find that scratching to a track can work if it's in the back on the second deck. EG on Marco V - Simulated (Original Mix) you can hear scratching quite a few times.

Thank you

A big thanks to all who replied (especially Spin Doctor)

I'm sure it helped a number of budding deckmasters (espcially myself)

Cool examples Spindoctor.

I have one questions. On the spinbacks, do you spin the deck coming in, or the one playing?

Posted by Great Outdoors on Apr-04-2002 14:36:

Well, Tiesto did it on the outgoing one.

Posted by D-Syde on Apr-04-2002 14:41:

Yes its always done on the outgoing one. You usually want to lower the volume a little too, the spin back tends to get a bit louder then when its playing normally.

Rasta

Cool

assuming you're in a mix then yeah obviously its the outgoing track.

but a trick i use sometimes during a buildup (right before the kickdrum hits) or when a new synth/sound is going to start ill cut to the center of the x-fader and do a spinback with the track im cueing

the problem with spinbacks is although they sound good when used moderately...a lot of people who use them use them WAAAY to often and it gets annoying

although i do agree with d-syde on the volume thing

Hmmm, I wonder how it would sound like? This is something new to me.

Cool

About the phasing thing, I have 2 copies of the Angelz Remix of Out Of The Blue and the Safri Duo remix of Tremble, I tried it with both, and found that if you hav 2 hav it perfectly on beat 4 it 2 wurk. Also it sounds good if u hav it 1 beat off but totally on beat

Posted by D-Syde on Apr-05-2002 19:59:

Yeah I finally got around to try it (phasing)..it does work. But, if you have an effects processor (which I do) its MUCH better just to use that. You'll have more control over it overall. Its still fun to mess around with, but it seems like you dont really have much control when it comes to how much and when exactly you get the effect.
