if you don't have the grades for vassar, you're pretty fucked in terms of getting into anywhere decent. you can try to hit up skidmore and puff herb all day. iona or manhattanville are also options if you want to stay in that area.

if you had the grades i'd recommend swarthmore in PA. if i ever have kids, it's the kind of place i'd send them.

edit: actually re-looking at your list of wants, pace, fordham, st. john's or rutgers (which someone already suggested) might be good idea.

Isn't Berkley considered synonymous with "LIBERAL"?

it is, but there are a lot of extremely conservative undergrads there as well, while some of the faculty is very liberal.

my fav. clip of all time!

I went to the University of Washington in Seattle. It's pretty expensive for out-of-staters, but it's so liberal I swear nearly every teacher made some derogatory reference to president Bush. Once in a while the college Republicans make some outlandish scene, but are then proptly chastized by the billions of minority groups.

Umm... pointing out the obvious does not make one "liberal". Heck, even conservative republicans are now saying "Damn, that Texas cracka be crazy, yo!"

I'm not helping you find anything.

dude. what?
of course i want debate.
it just sucked at Marist cuz everyone was an upperclass abercrombie wearing cliqy person who was all about getting drunk all the time.

i want a school where i can meet openminded cool down to earth people. ya dig?

thanks for the suggestions. I've thought about Rutgers, but the campus is way too big. I guess i'm stuck instate cuz every decent school i find is to expensive for out of state. :/ what if i go to europe? that's a possibility

there are microcosms within Rutgers. For example, there were only 500 people in my graduating class in my college, and 60 in my major. I had the same people in all my classes for 3 years. It might be a little different in Rutgers College (liberal arts) but you still find your social circle. You don't have to be intimidated because it is a big organization.

im glad you liked rutgers. but after being in jersey for so long i decided that i can't stand the cold, i need somewhere warm. so i might have figured it out. california!

i have a plan, if i go to a community college there, claim residency, get honors (3.0 gpa) then i can transfer to a state school and get in-state tuition, and probably a scholarship. california seems perfect, it's warm, it has liberal openminded people, and i can go to a school thats in a city. does this sound realistic?

Come to Evergreen State University.

Its hella cheap, its a state school, its filled with hippies, no tests, and LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of drugs.

http://www.evergreen.edu/

Oh did I mention the drugs?

They don't even have finals really, just an evaluation at the end of the class................................. some even let you do a self-eval... hahahaha

My cousins boyfriend went there, said they offered a class called like "Life and Meditation" you'd get a full class credit if you promised to meditate every day for an hour....

Seriously though it sounds like a fun school, my best friend goes there, another one of my best friends might go there, and my brother is probably going... (AND MY MOM TOO FOR SOME REASON!?)

UMass Amherst-- it's not in a city, but still in a pretty legit location and it fufills all the other requirements.

there are some great schools in the UC system. some are pretty hard to get into, others less hard. also, some are more liberal than others, but all will be liberal enough for what you are looking for. you can also look into the state schools (i don't know how this differs from the UC system). i only know the bay area schools like sac state, san jose state, and sf state. i don't know how long it takes to establish residency. you should come out and check it out.
