You know, I never was one to believe 'the hype'.

Whenever people would come up to me and tell me some juicy tidbit of information about someone else, or call someone else a nasty name, I turned away, not wanting to be a part of it. I wanted to be a better man. I wanted to show all the children out there that there is a better way.

Now, I'm torn. I'm having a crisis of concience. At once I find myself in a position completely alien to me, the fable has been confirmed. I'm not too sure what to do about it, really. No matter that everyone accounted the same rumour, the same message, I refused to believe. I wanted to ignore the uglyness, for the children. I wanted to show them that there is a better way. This could shake to the core my entire belief system, my understanding of our society, the world, our very nature.

It's sad to think that this epiphany would come under such a dark cloud, but now I'm certain - and it frightens me both for my own sake, and that of the children I tried to set an example for - that I will always remember where I was and what I was doing when I first learned the truth.
