From the mixer just 1 stereo channel returns to Cubase. I am going to get analog compressors (DBX 266) for all the 8 stereo channels and some mastering processors (TFPro P38, SPL Stereo Vitalizer MK2-T) for the stereo return to Cubase. Just an option to think about if you want your VSTi's to sound warmer. Analog stem mixing FTW!

I find when I produce in the box all my sounds end up TOO warm.

I just think the sound is much more refined and it's easier for all the sounds to fit in the mix when I do the analog stem mixing as I said vs. mixing everything digitally inside the DAW. I'm not sure if warm was the right word to describe the difference. But there's no way I'm going back to mixing everything digitally.

And Mysticalninjas sig says it all about VSTi's really.

I'd spend 1$ on a really good kick sample and 999$ on alcohol

or I'd just buy a second hand virus B and save the rest of the money

I like your thinking!

No one mentioned a Virus C. How come? Everyone seems to mention the Virus B instead.

Posted by Jmanch on Mar-05-2007 03:54:

I would drop 1,000 on a new virus ti desktop and then pay it off later.

Subwoofer and studio monitors.

Posted by Storyteller on Mar-05-2007 12:06:

Monitor speakers if you don't have those, otherwise as diginut said, a powercore or uad...

Probably the powercore with the virus powercore multi license.
unlimited virus b's (well, limited to the ammount of processing units on your DSP card) for the price of about 1 second hand virus b
Cheaper than a TI and nearly the same possibilities, put in a software plug...

Those processing cards are awesome!

I dont this this is true.....you can get a virus b for about $650 USD and a cheap powercore for about $400 and the virus powercore for about $350...then the multi license for $249, yes u can have multiple viruses but it still costs more. Thats about $1000.

Posted by RichieV on Mar-07-2007 02:02:

i would be careful buying dsp cards. They don't run on alot of sound card / mobo configurations. Having said that , i own 2 UAD and 2 powercore with pretty much every plugin available. They rock.

On average the virus is more expensive here in NL . At least 25%.

Then again, paying a bit more than a virus b for multiple?
And some other plugins of course... The software flexibility...
I'd prefer it over a hardware B any day, personally.

Posted by Limit on Mar-07-2007 02:18:

just remember that the Virus Powercore is modeled after the Virus A/indigo 1 technology...and its said that the osc's are just a bit more dirty than the b...but that could also be the D/A converters..i'm not really sure.

Posted by RichieV on Mar-07-2007 02:56:

the A only has 2 ossilators. The PowerCore virus is identical to the B. I'm almost certain.

Posted by Storyteller on Mar-07-2007 08:54:

I thought so too... I was left it doubt by that 2nd post back though.

Yo might be right but all I'm saying is that the powecore virus is built after indogo 1 technology...therefor the oscillators programing is different....the oscillators are not identical to the virus b. I'm sure they are pretty close though.

what is the deal with the Virus Indigo, pro and cons ?

Posted by Storyteller on Mar-07-2007 22:29:

- CON
It has a smaller keyboard then a normal virus with keys.
It is more expensive.
It's has got too few keys.
I'd rather have a rack/desktop version.

- something in between
It has the same features as the virus serie it is part of.

- PRO
It looks cool.
It looks so cool.
Damn it looks cool
Did I mention it looks really cool?

Posted by Subtle on Mar-07-2007 22:34:

so its suppose to be kind of a mini-virus with keys, and the same specs ?

Yes, same specs.
The Indigo is a Virus B and the Indigo II is a Virus C as far as I know.

Nothing beats the Virus TI Goldfilter. Wouldn't it be cool to own this?

Too bad they don't sell it.

Holy fucking shit !!!

Alright, how about a Nord Lead 2, or 3 ?

How good are those ?

I know they are good, but they dont have any effects on them, is that a big problem ?
