It's like house with classical music elements but with techno snare drums filtered throughout, it's nuts!
<3

I love the latter half of it myself.

Posted by infinity HiGH on Feb-22-2007 04:07:

he loses me a bit from 80-110 minutes.

listening to it now though, the track at 15 minutes is probably one of my favourite tracks of the whole set.

I don't even know what to say anymore, you can hype this mix up to someone for a year and it would still fucking deliver.

It's amazing, beautiful, epic, haunting, and best of all fucking FUNKY. 10/10 set

how to be a master dj 101, this guy is NEXT LEVEL SHIT without even trying to be, he did this mix in his sleep.

LEGEND

Hmmm...QFT

ps. The track at 42 minutes is out of this world

Posted by Endlesswave on Feb-22-2007 04:45:

I only paid half attention, it was late and I can't recall too much of it now. Besides some of you Howells whures have heard it a billion times already.

Posted by geroin on Feb-22-2007 11:45:

this is a very good essential mix! i've listened twice and i love it

there is about 5 tracks that really stand out for me + the first 2 songs

this is my favourite part though, fuckin sick

Marc Romboy vs Blake Baxter "The Club" (Systematic)
Madonna "Hung Up" (Loopzilla) (Warners)
Sebastien Leger "Cosmogold" (Circle)

jon silva - love in me

i think i've listened to this mix like every night this week! LOL

Careful buddy. You might want to spell out "Essential Mix" on that t-shirt rather than just the letters "EM". Who knows what the letters EM might be mistaken for...

"Enormous Meat", for example.

Posted by jon jon on Feb-22-2007 15:30:

hahah awesome. Andrew have you heard set?

I have. I've listened to it about 4 times. Choice mix for sure. Many of the words you used to describe it -- amazing, beautiful, epic, haunting -- were exactly how I felt when I first listened to the recent Radio Slave and Gabriel Ananda Essential Mixes. Definitely kicking myself for not catching Howells at TIL late last year...

How does he manage to portray so much about himself through a mix? Incredible.

Been listening to this non-stop now since I got it.

That first 30min just draws you in and hugs you. The tune @ 122min is the best of the set imo.

We need him to play at a DARK venue in the city. He was good at TiL, but I want a more mysterious venue.

Wont give it a 10, cause imo theres is NEVER a 10...but this is a fucking 9.5

i say re-open System Soundbar for one night and let him play one of his legendary 10 hour extended sets.

Simple: He LOVES music. I've been saying this for a long time now but Danny Howells, in my opinion, has the best taste in music out of any DJ (tied with Burridge, actually). This mix is just the most recent proof of that statement.

It's business as usual for Danny. Like Jon said he could do it in his fuckin sleep. I wouldn't be as generous in giving it a 10/10 though. It's not perfect, but the first 70-80 minutes are life changing, haha. 9.5/10 from me, just because I've heard better mixes from Howells
