anyway you guys can pay my penalty for breaking my contract w/ Bell? haha

I think its only $200 or somethign like that

btw..i'm no techy when it comes to cellphones...so what network does Telus use? I'll probably just buy a phone in the States or something, but don't know which ones would be compatible...

your US phone wont work with telus, need to buy telus phone , even if you managed to get the CDMA phone unlocked the system will not accept it, because the programming to their network is diffrent.

but here is a hint , get a pay and talk phone for 79$ and migrate to month to month

http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/payandtalk/kit_home.shtml

simple no contracts and phone is urs!

CDMA is the tricycle of networks.

holeee with the shameless Telus plugs .. would our Rogers, Fido, and Bell CSR's please stand up?

Posted by geroin on Feb-21-2007 21:58:

i think it has to do with money
when phones become dirt cheap in japan/europe they send them off here and make a killing by selling them for a full price while there are already new phones on the market there.

Posted by FunkyCrew on Feb-21-2007 22:39:

omg guys what are you whining about ebay all the way

and if the phone is locked - Pacific Mall, they unlock them there for pinuts

We're complaining because if the phones are not officially released in NA, none of the carriers here will pick them up, so none of us will be able to enjoy the subsidized costs of those phones when we get a new contract. You think the Japs pay the full price you would if you bought the cellphone on eBay for their cellphones? The Sharp 903 is dirt cheap there now, and it's still more advanced than anything we have offered here. Not to mention that buying on eBay you can get scammed, no warranty if it breaks, can't try it out before you buy, etc etc.

oh well sucks to be you

my Mum picks up brand new Samsungs for me, whenever my previous one gets old, and just mails them to me

On the other hand, the good thing about those cellphones not being offered here is that if you do shell out for one on eBay, you're pretty much guaranteed that you'll never see another person with the same cellphone as yours. I'd hate to have a RAZR right about now.

I'm going from Bell to Rogers (or most likely fido) come March 17th when cell phone portability kicks in. Bell is a POS company and I want to do better and have a network that works wherever I want it to, ie GSM.

Why so they can give $150 off only thier choice of CDMA phones on a 3 year contract that cost $20 per month (no Maximum) to get out of?

So if I dont like the service tomorrow and my math is correct I got a phone that is usless because I can't use on any other network (including Bell cause they won't activate it) then that is a $720 mistake? ($20 x 36 months)

I can see $150 for the discount of the phone they sold me but how do they justify the remaining $570 for service they are no longer providing? Also how do they justify almost $500 I paid for my CDMA Razr that I had to wait almost 2 years to get after it was avaiblbe in Canada in GSM form? When you can buy an unlocked GSM equivilant for around $200?

And we wonder why the phone selection and service sucks in this country! We used to be world leaders in Telecommunications until Rogers, Bell and Telus collectively facked that up!

I have about a year left with Telus and im even considering paying out the $240 to cancel right now so I can switch to Rogers and purchase the phone I want not the one Telus dictates I can use!

Even Considering letting them take me to court for the balance then briging up the fact that Rogers won a class action lawsuit against them for stating false service statistics claims in regard to coverage area and dropped calls. Not gonna win against big corporations though so I'll bite the bullet and save my Credit Rating!

Fine, Rogers it is then.

Bell (hell most cdma companies that I'm hearing about are total shyte.). I CANNOT wait until March. In the mean time I'm thinking of buying some shitty ass phone tomorrow to get me through the month, not having a cell is a pain. (NOT buying a new phone from Bell only to have my plan start over, hopefully I can activate another one).

Posted by Endlesswave on Feb-23-2007 01:54:

lol Monish, no thanks man, cdma is ass. I'd rather have OPTIONS via different cell phone selections, then I can switch companies if anything, I CANNOT WAIT until March 17th or so.

I dunno but I'm going to find out with Bell, mine started April of last year I think, and it's a 2 year contract, either way I'm OUT.

2) They Promise good customer service...
Customer Service??? What's that? LOL

3) They Promise a New Free Phone Every 3 years...
wow another out-dated $50-$100 phone, Free If you sign another additional 2 - 3 year Contract! LOL

I'm just going to call up Bell and see how desperate they are to keep there customers and see what they'll offer me for free to stay with them...

I've been w/ them for atleast 6 years and have always been on contract so they should offer me something good to stay w/ them...

Is Telus going to be having any promos during this joyous occasion? This is there chance to gain some loyal customers, so they should be offering some great promos...if they were smart.

Shop around guys! I'm sure there will be some great promos and packages to be had.

Buddy I dont need to read it carefully! The point is you claim it's a free phone for being a loyal customer i.e every 3 years, but is its not free if you got to commit for another 2-3 year term!
Furthermore the $400 phone I can buy un-locked GSM for $200-$250.
