^ Blah. Proressive has nothing to do with this. If anything, progressive is usually less filled, because there are no supersaw leads taking headroom. Listen to some James Holden for example.

what James Holden do you mean my friend? The one before 2004 or after cause those are completely different people

im not talking about lead or supersaws. im talking about that cheap "reverb everything & gate the vocals" stuff i.e. the ASOT crew... only a few guys still have their own kind of style... hang on boys!

They took out the supersaws so they'd have more room for shakers...

And some other stuff, too.

You and I both know it's really just about the shakers.

Something really cheezy I made in Reason dedicated to this thread.

Percussion instruments is the sh*t. Just how boring would any trance track be without 'em? They'd just sound the same as everything else.

are you suggesting that trance is the only genre to use percussion? because if that is the case, i suggest you listen to some latin music. trance only wishes it could use percussion like that.

Posted by blacknoizybox on Feb-26-2007 18:38:

ive heard a lot of tracks which quite surely borrowed latino percussion.

His post doesn't suggest that at all.

It seemed like it. Because he said that without percussion, trance would sound like everything else. To me this sounds like nothing else has percussion. Perhaps i was reading into it a little too much.
