Now rape acts are going to blossom because people don't want to risk going to jail.

Yes, this will definitely cause a decrease in the number of cavalry-sword-stabbing-interrupted rapes that occur every year.

This thread is terrific - it compliments Buddy's "I'm going to Wisconsin" thread so nicely!

I hate american courts.

Posted by itsamemario on Feb-23-2007 03:16:

oh and yeah.. for some reason i knew how the city name was pronounced, just as soon as i had all the letters in the right order.. i dont know if indian names are easier to pronounce for europeans (northen europe), or maybe its because i watch too much that 70's show? hehe :P

The courts have done absolutely nothing so far in this case.

no, but that this even goes to court says a little about how f'd the system is.

I mean, wasting tax money (and a trial isnt cheap) and time, on stuff like this is idiocy.

In Norway the cops would most likely say "ok good job, we see how you could be mistake loud porn as a rape (who the fuck has their porn turned up to like 90 dB anyways??). now buy him a new door"

i can't see how any good can come of prosecuting people for stuff like this. he was clearly doing what any person in that situation would do.

Posted by Sunsnail on Feb-23-2007 06:20:

I think it's important that a person be able to try to take to trial something they may see as an injustice.

$2 the movie was a Max Hardcore film
that nigga makes money off simulated underage rape porn

i somewhat agree. there should however be a screening of all trials.

i haven't studied the american judicial system, but it seems like most of the cases that go thru it, are made from greedy ass people.

i mean, u see ppl sueing companies like starbucks for millions of dollars because they burnt their mouth drinking the coffee. Well what the fck do you expect, dimwit? Its coffee, it's supposed to be hot!

when people stop helping people in distress (as the law says you shall) in fear of being sued, then u know you live in a f'd up country

edit: while it would be super awesome to just recieve alot of money, and esp as americans looove their money; people shouldnt be rewarded for idiocy.

Yay for tort reform!

...too bad it'll never happen.

Well, trials do go through screening. A lot of trials never make it to court. "most cases" are not from greedy people. They're just the ones that you're going to know about through the media.

Posted by itsamemario on Feb-23-2007 06:53:

well, they obviously doesnt screen them good enough. u can't seriously say that you believe the american juducial system is fair?

Posted by Sunsnail on Feb-23-2007 07:03:

Uhh, it could be better

bahahahaha... i saw this story on the local news the other night and i wanted to post a thread about it but couldn't find a written article yet!

they were interviewing the dude who was watching his porn, and at the end they asked him "so do you think this incident has turned you away from watching porn?" and his response was "PSH! no way. i'm just going to turn the volume down from now on, or maybe invest in some fancy headphones"

i hope he gets his sword back!

Brazilian-Portuguese I am told that when Brazilians speak "Portuguese" in Portugal, the Portugese over there say it's not Portuguese.

I'm just acting like a big know it all really. lol I have a lot of latin friends lately. One of them is really into all the different latin cultures. He's traveled a lot and he knows all the different accents and whatnot. I've been learning a lot from him actually, it's cool. He's from Honduras and has family in Italy too. Most people think he's colombian because of his accent, but I love listening to him imitate the different spanish accents. It used to baffle me that anyone could tell a difference, but it's the same thing as us Americans being able to tell someone from Georgia apart from someone from Minnesota.

lol I just had to double check what thread this was. Sorry for the hijack

last semester we studied in our english class the american criminal system and it was interesting to compare with the one we have here

i would say the things i dont like in the american system is that it's more like lawyers have to win the case even if it implies big lies , because it looks like it's more about who will be the most persuasive ....and not necessary about fairness and that's what bothers me quite a bit

2 weeks ago i attended a conference at cornell with my boyfriend where the lawyer who won enron's case was presenting the trial and how he managed to

i was impressed by the guy , young and definately brilliant but i realized that to be an american lawyer was first based of your choices of right words and the way to convince people .....

i guess sometimes it should be more like fight some injustices and non senses cases but oh well i tell u this cuz my conception of justice is influenced by the way they teach us here at school
