^ ah, those were the days.

I remember back in elementary/public school with my Dad having a our family computer (beastly 386) getting the upgrade so we could have internet. 14.4k modem bitches, fastest in the land!

How many people remember the old-school style and design of the internet? The gray screens, the wall of text always in bright blue for a link, no images, etc.

I will always remember him coming down into the living room while we were watching TV and exclaiming to us that he had just "been" in Australia on a website.

Ah, new excitement: those were the days. *nostalgia*

i don't remember the exact year that we got the net, but i know it was on an old macintosh LC (i think) with a 14.4 'baud' u.s. robotics modem. ahh the days of waiting tens of minutes for a webpage to load (more if it had pics) and good ol' netscape navigator. classic.

we didn't had internet in cuba until much later like in the 90s, my first modem was a 56k us robotic and we had to hack our way out to the internet (there is no public internet access in cuba even today).

i remember using a service back the that allowed us to retrieve web pages by sending request via email, very primitive LOL.
