| Originally posted by calmlikeabomb my favorite thing about SD is the sunsets. pretty much every day, no matter where you are, you'll see a gorgeous sky as the sun is going down. last glimpse of light before its time to PARTY. if you're trying to hit up a beach, my favorite is encinitas. don't know if that's too far north for you though. otherwise mission bay or coronado should do the trick. |

Yeah, I'm sure they allow cameras in there, I saw tons of people with p&s cameras last time I was there.
Things to do..
Sea World
Zoo
Wild Animal Park (Personally, I like it more than the Zoo)
Balboa Park museums (Model Train museum is quite cool if you're into that)
Mexican food, shopping, and some history in Old Town
Day trip to Julian for Mom's Apple Pie and tour of the gold mine
Golf @ Torrey Pines (or one of the other many, less known courses)
Shopping in "The Village" of La Jolla with a walk along La Jolla Cove and food at any of the oceanview restaurants, take a kayak tour of the sea caves (btw, the water is COLD)
Beaches, beaches, beaches!
Belmont Park - Ride the rollercoaster and get a drink or three at The Wavehouse (location for an MTV spring break year) - watch guys and gals surf the standing wave (or crash on it, as the case may be). Rent bikes or rollerblades and go down the boardwalk. Check out the hot bodies everywhere.
Mission Bay - rent a sailboat or a kayak
Shopping and dining in "The Village" of Del Mar
Visiting Coronado, but not sure what to specifically point you towards - renting bikes, visit the Hotel Del Coronado
Visit Mexico (Tijuana.. blech..)
and of course
eat, drink, and dance in the Gaslamp district!
If you've got any specific interests other than trance/dance, we can give pointers..

This might seem silly but I just did this with some out of town friends, so the breakdown is fresh in my head
You can walk around a few blocks of Coronado near Hotel Del to see some really cool neighborhoods (1 hour), Go to Hotel Del: check out the shops, get a badass martini at the Babcock Bar, eat at any of the 3 restaraunts (2-3 hours), enjoy the beach and grounds (1 hour); The Landing Marketplace on the other side of the "island" is cool, but if you hop back over the bay and go to Seaport Village downtown, I think you'll enjoy it a bit more. (you can also start at seaport Village and ferry over to Coronado, rent some beach cruisers and ride to the Hotel, to fill up more of the day)
