by the by... Steve Bug is playing at Parking in Montreal a bit later this month (I'm tempted to say on the 15th), if that's the kind of thing you'd travel for. So's Sasha.

Tickets won't be up for a bit - last year, it was one price for a one-day pass ($15???) and then a three-day pass at $40. It didn't sell out and it was a system with wristbands.

The location is, as always, Hart Plaza in Detroit, MI - right on the Detroit River and very close to the Ambassador Bridge/Chunnel system.

The website for the production company running it is: http://www.paxahau.com. They have a myspace as Paxahau as well to check for updates.

I'll post info on after parties as they come up in the DCS area that they dedicate to DEMF every year and let you know when that starts up - more like end of March than before that.

Hope this helps - Detroit's Amabassador to TOTA, out!

A few questions:

1. When should we start booking hotels etc?
2. Do wristbands grant access to the afterparties? If not, how much do afterparties usually cost?
3. Is there usually one big afterparty with all the DJs, or several different afterparties?
4. What day does Richie usually play on?

im betting NOW, Graham, or better yet, YESTERDAY!

Seriously, been checking a few random party forms with DEMF threads, and the consensus seems to be that shit is already booking up REAL FAST for this weekend.

Im thinking as soon as possible is the answe.r

1. Book hotels NOW. They are already booking up in downtown Detroit. There are more in the area but they are a 15-20 min drive from downtown. Staying over the river in Windsor can be a royal pain for getting back and forth.

2. Afterparties vary - everything from shows at Bleu to warehouse parties to smaller venues. The lineups are diverse - usually only a few shows on Friday & Monday but MANY on Sat & Sunday. I paid $25 for Richie at Masonic last year and $10 for a warehouse party. As they get announched, I'll post info.

3. SHIT TON of afterparties. All tastes - DJs come in just for afterparties and not every DJ at the festival will play an afterparty. There are a few that are sponsored by Paxahau and the festival - if you buy a VIP pass in past years, you have gained access to these parties.

4. Richies usually closes the fesitval on Monday night - that is his slot. He might play an afterparty - he was at Masonic Temple on Sat last year.

Hope this helps, yo.

Kris, could you recommend some Hotels? I don't want to book a hotel in the wrong area...

true true. very valid point.

Posted by The Highroller on Mar-01-2007 05:53:

I'd like a cheaper hotel because I probably won't be spending much time in it, but in a good location relative to the festival.

read my mind.

I would check the Holiday Inn Express downtown first - they might still have rooms.

The Ponchatrain, the Ramada, and one other are the four hotels right downtown.

At LAST the barrage of TOTAs is coming to the dirty, filthy best fesitval weekend ever invented - I am stoked!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Skipper on Mar-01-2007 16:10:

Graham, where are you staying and how much is it? What nights are you there for?

Is it true that Sat and Sun are the main days/nights?

Posted by StereoPrincess on Mar-01-2007 17:35:

i don't understand even what it is?

is it like WMC with all these DJs at different venues and times or is it like Ultra outdoor festival.

LOL! Totally clueless!

I'd imagine so, as it runs into Monday (American holiday). I'll let someone whos been before though confirm w/ certainty.

Posted by kabelicious on Mar-01-2007 18:41:

More answers from the Ambassador:

Movement runs Sat Noon-Midnight
Sun Noon-Midnight
Mon Noon-Midnight

There are 4-5 different stages at Hart Plaza - the main stage is the amphitheater up front where Hawtin, Collabs 3000, etc play. The others are a combo of smaller outside venues and tents. Every day there are headliners - all three days can contain good acts but the best closers are usually Sun & Mon night.

How it works:

On Friday night, there are a few pre-parties at various venues around downtown. During the 3-day festival, there are afterparties that start when the festival closes and run anywhere from 2am-8am the next day. Clubs and promoters will bring in DJs that aren't performing at the festival so you get a whole assortment of EDM types.

Last year, there were around TWELVE different parties for Sunday night. It was INSANE! THe most afterparties are usually on the Sat/Sun nights with only a few on Monday night - by then, I usually have lost my voice and am gimping about from dancing for 3 days and 3 nights straight.

There are places to eat downtown aplenty and the four hotels within walking distance to the festival and most afterparties are: The Courtyard Marriott, the Holiday Inn Express, the Ponchatrain, and the Ramada Inn on Bagley. Of the 4, the nicest is the Courtyard and most expensive - the Express is the cheapest with nicest rooms. The Ponch and the Ramada are less nice and have been known to have plumbing issues as they haven't been updated lately.

Hope this helps, yo - Ambassador OUT.

I have had the time booked off work since the first week of January so I am in for all 3 nights
We can all sleep at my place on the Friday and leave here in the morning or early afternoon before I get you boys some breakfast.. lol

YAY.. I am sooo stoked. As for Knox, see if you can book in the Holiday Inn Express as it looks like it is exactly right downtown and close to everything. I do NOT want to drive throughout the weekend if we don't have too. I rather just park and walk everywhere
