Isn't the Canadian statistic close to 1 in every 3 adults?

my doctor told me it was 1/4 canadians with males from 18-30 as the highest growing statistic

also that they don't test for herpes now unless you have an outbreak. that the statistics are so high its not worth doing a blood test over

true? false?

Posted by all-nite-freak on Mar-02-2007 20:00:

a blood test is always worth it...better safe than sorry.

Posted by UmmiE on Mar-02-2007 20:01:

I wish they had those instruments ,that can give you an instant reading of the possible Herpes on a subject by just simply sticking it in and waiting for it to turn green or red. LOL

You can get tested for any std ANY time you want. And dont let them tell you otherwise!!

This is false.

If you have a full STD screen they do test for HSV-1 and HSV-2.

not sure if a blood test can determine signs of all types of STI's.. (the below is HPV and not HSV tho)

quote:

According to the CDC there is currently no test commercially available to determine infection in men. Genital warts are the only visible sign of HPV in men and can be identified with a visual check of the genital area. Vinegar solutions have been used to identify flat warts by making them more distinct, but most providers have found this technique helpful only in moist areas, such as the female genital tract.(http://www.cdc.gov/STD/HPV/STDFact-HPV-and-men.htm#test [January 2007]).

^^it doesnt affect men as much, but women can now get a vaccination (in the US anyways) for HPV. I am not sure about canada though.
