Islam is like every other religion, it's for morons. I believe I went over religion before. It's for weak human beings, and morons. Islam has no shortage of morons, nor does Judaism, Christianity, Wicka(most morons per square foot), Hindu, etc. They are all morons.
Having said that, I find no shortage of really nice muslims. Just because I find your belief system ignorant, reprehensible, and hypocritical, doesn't mean that I can't look past those obvious faults within your character and become a close friend, perhaps, dare I say, lover.
That, ofcourse, doesn't detract from the number of non-religious morons out there, but the important thing to remember is that there is an innate moronic characteristic found within religion, and that a person simply has a better chance of not being a moron if they are non-religious.
So, if there are any ignorant, reprehensible, hypocritical, moronic, weak-minded female muslims out there that want to hit the zone on any given Sabbath, let me know.

Islam is a beautiful religion if you don't pay attention to the bomb sex.

You mention that these "morons" are generally nice however you forget that it's everyone's CHOICE to practice whatever religion they choose and everyone should be entitled to their beliefs despite any criticisms one may have of them. The only thing that can be said without making oneself a moron as well is that you don't agree with any religious practices seeing as how they may distract people from real truths and so on and so forth whatever your argument may be. Simply calling them morons doesn't put forth your argument very well.
I have similar views and criticisms of religion but I don't come out and call these people morons, instead I entitle them to their beliefs and claim that I just don't agree with them and thats that. To go beyond such with derogatory comments and without valid arguments is just ignorant.

I disagree; I think it's very important for one's beliefs to be questioned and criticized.

Yeah...I realized that and edited my post, unfortunately you read it before I revised it.

Beliefs should be criticized...however I don't think one should ever tell another they shouldn't believe what they believe or that they are a moron for believing it

I don't deny anyones' right to practice those beliefs, nor do I, in most instances, openly project my thoughts of those who practice religion; however, this is close enough to a thread that asks my opinion of those groups, so I have expressed said views, albeit, in a purposefully obnoxious fashion.
I have had to make the link to all groups, otherwise, I could be perceived as anti-fill-in-the-blank.
The real point I was attempting to get across by using that particular tone was that agnostics and atheists through out history are openly chastized for their beliefs, or rather, disbeliefs. It was a lude attempt at making a non-religious religious holier than thou style speach(if that even makes sense) that, in my opinion, most religious people tend to dismiss as acceptable. I just thought it was funny to have a non-believer denounce every other belief in the same fashion as a religious zealot would.

There have been any number of religious people throughout history infinitely stronger, more courageous and more intelligent than yourself.

Do you really think that you're the first genius to come up with the notion that religion is a construct made to subdue people's fears, deal with their insecurities and absolve them of personal responsibility? And that it's not something that the more intelligent of the religious have answered for themselves?

I am not religious myself, but what I find more annoying than the dogmatic Christian evangelicals are the dogmatic atheists... at least the former can be entertaining.

by taking this tone, I'm not trying to control your thoughts, but rather, force you to think...I believe in there somewhere is the idea that you're welcome to think and do what you want... it's my right to call you a moron for it...

As I've just proven, dogmatic atheists, and in my case, agnostics can be entertaining...I'm glad someone recognized it for what it was...that was the point...it was intended to be humourous...even if you did mistake my dogmatic tone for the way in which I would normally speak...

I'll leave that to the religious nuts, get one of them to float you one over from the fridge...

Fair enough. I missed the novelty, frankly because that attitude isn't particularly novel here. Every pimply faced emo angsty teenager that has discovered Sartre walks around like they're a fucking genius that's discovered something the religious people have missed for centuries. So the attitude is quite a common and annoying one.

Evangelicals on the other hand are quite rare here (compared to the US). So their preaching, while theoretically scary, is to me so novel in its ridiculousness that I find it funny.

I had Buddists come around to my place the other day, that was a novelty!
Least after taking one look at my scruffy, hungover ass that had staggered to the door with some old Psy-trance thumping in the background, they decided not to push the idea. Unlike the mormons who decided long ago to chicken out after threatening to set my cat on them.

Posted by misterpink on Mar-03-2007 05:46:

Well, Astroboy, I'll let you know that I see your point...sometimes I forget that a comedic tone is sometimes lost when transfering it into print.
I do agree with just about any religion in that they are almost always based on teachings of respect, goodwill, common coutesy, friendliness, love for all people, etc. Their books are usually filled with a lifetimes worth of lessons and wisdom that many people could do with learning. It seems a cruel irony that those religions are sometimes twisted and used to manipulate those who support them.
I hope I didn't offend you too much, as too much of anything is bad.
