Damn, this shit makes me not want to drive. Worst I've done is fallen asleep and cracked the front of my car into another, nothing major though. Never seen any crazy accidents actually occur, I tend to come across them after they happened, just in time to see the body bags on the side of the road, which is bad enough I guess.
All of this reminds you of how fragile your life is when you're driving even if you're a perfectly good driver. You're dependent on the drivers around you not to fuck up and kill you, you can only avoid so much. Scary to me because I drive a lot and the obvious and sad fact is, more you drive more likely you are to be killed in an accident.
Yes, after long enough on the road you start looking for the malfunctioning 'nut' behind the wheel of other cars in order to avoid getting killed by them.
Paranoia, defensive driving, same thing

i have only been in one accident:
i was driving my 2002 honda accord coupe, with my gf going home from dinner on I-95 between daytona beach and Palm Coast fl. the overall traffic flow was going moderatley fast (75-80) on a 70mph road, so i was in the left most lane, when in my rear view mirror, i see some ricer going in out of lanes speeding like theres is no tommorow, so i slow down a bit to let him pass me so that i dont have to deal with the ass hole, sure enough the jackass still cuts in between my car and the car in back of me, clips my rear right wing, which sends my ass into a a spin at 80mph, i luckily manage to get control of the car, but still end up hitting the divider pretty hard.
End Result: My whole left side of the car, needed to be replaced and my girl is still terrified of driving on the highways.
As an insurance adjuster I have seen some pretty messed up accidents. I had to go to an accident scene where a motorcyclist got ran over by a transport....the cyclist died and the body was still at the scene when I was doing my investigation....I had to take pictures of the dead body.
Last Summer I was in a wreck in my 93 Thunderbird. I was coming back home in the morning from a hard night of drinking (I puked most of it out the night before, so I didn't feel anything in the morning). I took a friend home and then I was on my way home on this bad road and I guess I was changing my radio, but it seems my right tires clipped the edge of the road (really jagged) and since the car's steering is so floaty, I couldnt't feel anything through the steering wheel, so I got sucked off the road, smacked a telephone poll, split it in half, and then flipped over. Luckily I didn't get a BAC test or a Drug test at the hospital which still amazes me, but I think the fact that the worst injury I had was a small piece of glass in my finger that mildly hurt is a little more amazing.. But here are some pics.
If you notice the drivers side car is almost caved in, but I got out of the car in about what seemed 5-7 seconds

This was my sir, I hit a piller sideways while sleeping (hit directly on the drivers door sending my head out the window onto it thus putting me in a 5 day coma.) ![]() Both accidents were between 3:30 am and 5 am right after work, then a bar or two.. but not drinking as much as I used to at the time. Lesson learnt, sleep is important, don't pul 2-3 days without sleep then continue with your hectic lifestyle. |

I smashed my dad's gf's S-class into a tree 8 days after getting my license :/
I've luckily never been involved in any sort of accident ever. The worst thing that I've ever done to a car was hit a loose piece of asphalt that ended up rolling up into my front grille.
I have, however, had a few friends involved in some pretty bad accidents, and one friend die. It was an icy day, and he hit a patch of black ice on the highway which ended up sending his car through the median onto the opposite side of the road, where he ended up colliding into the side of a school bus. The thing that still pisses me off to this day, is the fact that everyone helped the mentally/physically retarded kids off of the unscathed school bus while my friend burned to death.

Some of you know that I am an active voice when it comes to winter tires, and the uselessness of all-seasons in the winter.
I helped this poor bastard March 2nd morning out of his car, when he lost control and rolled over into the ditch. This all happened to him about 10 car lengths in front of me. He was OK. His airbag deployed and he was wearing his seatbelt. He was very confused, in shock I guess, he couldn't open his door, but his power window worked, and helped him out. He's perfectly fine, just sounded very confused. After 15min he got his rationality back after his cigarette. Notice the all-seasons he has on. dumbass.
