japanese appreciation is good but i can;t stand when people dress up in all black and want to carry a sword around. and some of them are too overzealous and OBSESSIVE about it, it's embarassing. i saw it all day, everyday in my japanese langage courses and literature courses.

I like their cars and technical appliances, aside from that their language is unintelligible, writing indecipherable, the pop culture annoying, music is mostly horrible, Sake is not good and Sushi is awful.
Aside from that they're friendly, mostly respectable and a 5ft tall short ass like me can look like normal sometimes.
I'm sure they where just as bemused by and overdressed, noisy and insensitive eurasian like me stumbling over its culture like a drunk elephant.

Def. gotta agree with ya on the sushi and sake. That shit is nasty!

Sake hangovers are up there will all time 'will not touch' again hangovers like you get off brandy and cheap red wine, kind of sickness you'd mistake for losing your liver and having someone swap your blood for something corrosive... then a little evil japanese gnome on the back of your head going BANG! BANG! BANG! 'take that bitch!' BANG! BANG!

uuuhh!

Posted by Subey on Mar-04-2007 15:05:

Sushi is tasty! but don't try making it yourself with anything less than a vorpal blade, otherwise you will end up with Squishi

Posted by Omega_Blue on Mar-04-2007 15:11:

the fact that i know what you're talking about makes me feel like a huge dork.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Mar-04-2007 15:17:

...so i'm feeling kinda stupid now because nobody is talking anymore.

Two and a bit bottles, apparently it was the good stuff according to my hosts I was staying with there on a company junket... well premise of a product update
I do vaguely remember either punching or kneeing someone on the way home on the train for being too friendly...

Short but explosive

That's a lotta bottles...I've only had like one at the most...and it was so gross I needed help finishing it. It was WARM sake too. Yuck.

Never again.

I'm normally fairly placid (well... up until someone annoys me and then you're in a world of hurt), sort of hate to imagine what the 'regular' low quality stuff is like.
Oh yeah!
3rd best thing about Japan is Hello Kitty merchandise hehe! It's crap but funny and super cute

Posted by Omega_Blue on Mar-04-2007 15:30:

waaaaaaaaaaaayyy off the subject, but did you know that pocky causes cancer?? i for one am honestly disappointed.

baseball wouldn't be the same without Ichiro. Icccchhhiiiiiirroooooooo!

Assimo, not only the scariest/coolest robot ever made, but also, the coolest name ever. I mean, just try and incorporate "ass" into the name of a product..doubly genius... Japanese ass!!!

Posted by Scottaculous on Mar-04-2007 17:29:

appreciating sake and sushi doesn't come overnight. i didn't like sushi on the first try but now i'm such a snobby addict. i admire the japanese's obsession with efficiency and perfection. a reason why their electronics are so advanced and their classical martial arts so deadly. their diet and attitude about life is probably the healthiest one around.

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Mar-04-2007 18:13:

i used to like anime and now i can't stand it...i can draw it but i hardly do it as much as i used to.

right now i am just focusing on the language (mainly kanji at this point). i can read hiragana fluently and katakana, not so much fluently but i can read it.

i hope none of you are the japanese sword owning, anime obsessed, geeked out people who drones of the japanese culture... they flood the japanese courses here...

Vorpal happens to be older than you think...
