Posted by Scottaculous on Mar-07-2007 19:04:

someone stole my bike from my backyard. now his life is confined to a wheelchair.

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Mar-07-2007 19:40:

some people are selfish. they don't give a damn about other people's property.

i've had my cell phone stolen at the club before, that's about it.

but yes, i do also try realize that life and health and other things are more important than things. i try to think that things could have been much worse (someone robbed me at gunpoint, got beaten up, kids dying in the world, etc).

Posted by Dj O'Callaghan on Mar-07-2007 19:50:

Not being harsh but If you walk around showing off your Ipod and brand new phone this is the type of shit which happens.

Your lucky it wasn't on the street because I've seen people get beaten the shit out of for their Ipod and phone.

Tbh with you it's probably someone you know keep your eyes peeled.

A few years ago some East European bloke stole my mates bike from his garden and rub things in the silly twat was riding about on it a couple of streets from my mates house. Needless to say for the act of stealing and being cheeky he got a fucking hiding and the bike taken back from him.

Well, to be honest, those things you listed aren't that rare and hard to get. You can download them from any P2P program without a problem. And no, nothing like that ever happened to me... And if it did, I'd also be mad because iPods are still pretty expensive here where I live. I payed over $400 for my 4th generation 20 GB iPod in November 2004. And that was in Serbia, where it's cheaper. Back then it was over $500 in Croatia.

i dont understand why people have mp3s that are ONLY on their ipod/mp3 player.

Seriously... i have a 30 gb ipod and i pretty much just throw on some tracks and go, it's not like i put shit on there and then delete it from my comp...

be smart and back up your mp3s, or at least be smart enough to know how to replace them

beat me to it.
totally agree. why in HELL would you leave data only on the ipod????
ESPECIALLY since you can't transfer stuff back on your comp?

you can. its called winamp.

i dont own an ipod but i strongly agree with both of you with wtf are stupid to delete it from teh computer after xfering it?

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Mar-07-2007 21:13:

i didn't mention it but i thought i was the only one who noticed this too... i wasn't sure if that guy actually ONLY had those sets on his ipod and not the computer???

i always keep the mp3s on my computer/cds. i never just keep it on the ipod becausei tend to add and delete mp3s off the ipod but they are still on my computer. so therefore, if my ipod was ever stolen (god not willing) my mp3s are still on the hard drive and it was just my ipod stolen.

Posted by Akridrot on Mar-07-2007 23:08:

Heh, that kinda sucks. I will never, ever leave anything of value in a locker or car in this piece of shit NYC.

When I was younger, only two things of value were stolen from me. 50 bucks, and a coat I left in a locker (never again, no matter what ).

Not that much compared to some of you guys, but both of these events made me the secretive and cautious person I am today.

Make backups of all your rare mp3s, it's not that difficult and it pays off when shit like this happens. As for the 200 CD collection, I can't imagine carrying something that important and irreplaceable in a car. Some assholes will break into your car for a fucking cellphone.

Posted by tranceDJ on Mar-08-2007 04:32:

This is why I sometimes find I can actually get advice in a way from these forums. I used to keep a big book of cds in my car, after reading how many people do the same and get theirs stolen I no longer do that...I'll probably keep 2 to 3 cds in my car, narrows the selection but in the event my car ever gets broken into I won't feel like I've lost everything. Granted I've been lucky enough not to have my car broken into but I know I won't be losing many valuables should that ever happen.

I'm also very reluctant to bring my 30gb creative zen anywhere with me, only on rare occasions unless I know theres pretty much no way I'm going to lose it. I've heard of too many people getting jumped for their mp3 players or setting them somewhere and someone coming up and snatching them away. So yeah, I'm paranoid about these things but I don't have much trust in strangers or people in general and at the end of the day it keeps my shit from getting stolen.

Posted by LoveHate on Mar-08-2007 04:34:

yeah ive had my ipod stolen i know how you feel

Posted by FuzzyChicken on Mar-08-2007 04:46:

if people have valuables in their car, hide it so that it's not obvious to thieves. Put it under the seat, glove compartment, or trunk. If its out of sight then people won't know its there to steal.

Once,

the homeless guy who wanders by my store stole fifty cents that I had momentarily set on the counter..

goddammit, I didn't have enough to buy a slim jim that day

Posted by igottaknow on Mar-08-2007 05:07:

since he has your phone why don't you call the guy?

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Mar-08-2007 05:09:

True... I have all of my music on my computer and only about 1/6 or 1/7 of it on my iPod.
