-- Why Does ATB Get Such Bad Treatment Here?
Pages (7): « 1 [2] 3 4 5 6 7 »
i was unfortunate enough to witness an ATB live performance on milenium eve. i think the stigma attached to that stuff he made sticks to his reputation so whatever he may do now (i havent listened to him personally so i cant give an opinion directly) he will always be seen in a certain way by people who remember his "9pm", "killer", "dont stop" stuff with the camp piano sample.

There are some good remixes of ATB tracks (most notably the X Cabs Remix of "Don't Stop" and the Matt Darey and Signum remixes of "9 PM"), but most of his early tracks and remixes followed exactly the same guitar formula with somewhat questionable production values. After he dropped the guitar, his tracks got even worse. "Hold You" is a true abomination - horrible synths, horrible bass, awful vocal. One of the worst pieces of electronic music I've ever heard. "Let U Go", "You're Not Alone", "I Don't Wanna Stop" and "Long Way Home" were all very poor also. Haven't listened to any of his original productions since then, and I have no intention of doing so.
Before producing as "ATB" he was behind the awful eurodance act Sequential One.
Please a sample of his mixing...
I've yet to experience the power!

Gateway music.

some of the tracks on the first album still does it for me, mainly being "kayama", "obsession" and then you have EFF - Beach Vibes, which is immense. as for his other stuff, well, decent at best. for "let u go" he ruined it by chucking in an godawful synth. He also made a godawful remake of Olive's You're Not Alone
there have been plenty of good remixes of his stuff, X-Cabs remix of Don't Stop, Bent's remix of 9pm, Trisco's remix of Let U Go

People can do better on MixMeister on their computer than this mix...why he just didn't use that program is beyond me. I dunno how he mixed this...even though he really didn't "mix" just uh...attempt to
To his credit for the 3 seconds the 2nd mix lasted, he held the beats well, it was a case of last 2 bars of one tune first bar of the second mixing though. What was that 2nd tune btw? I kinda liked it... :S
Yes...I know that it's really senseless to write in such a topic, but I just want to tell you, that I find it very funny how some people try to shed bad disposition about me by sharing this funny samples. Somestimes I really wished a bit more investigation and trueness in this forum.
But sometimes it's just easyer just to believe in the things some people post here.
BTW. I can't tell you what tracks this are in the samples...never heard it before!
..and now go on! It's intersting! ;o)

omg
ATB is a talented producer, there is quality on his track and i think he s good dj but i think that his default is that he plays the overplayed tracks.about his production, listen to renegade A&T mix and you will change your mind about his skills in production.
lol
His music is the most paper-thin I've ever heard. There seems to be zero depth to them: nothing to reward repeat listenings, no substance, nothing. Occasionally he throws together an effective hook but the tracks sound more like pastiches of trance than something you'd actually associate with a dancefloor.
The only ATB tracks I've genuinely enjoyed were remixed. Quake's remake of Don't Stop is pretty good.
i think that it's a question of taste and we don't have all the same tastes.ATB put me into trance.i was never convinced by all the radio show by the big dj like armin or markus shultz, i find the sets boring.tatw is ok, sometimes , there is good surprises.concerning the skills in production, i notice that trance has evolved and i don't like the way, it's too progressive for me and too boring, i like banging tracks.i think that it's question of taste and for me ATB is the best producer.it's the only artist i appreciate all what he does.

gateway music... you quickly grow out of it
john00 fleming is gateway? above and beyond too? jonas steur? adam white ?etc...
i love these artits but ATB remains the best for me and as far i know, these artist are not classified in gateway music so you can't say that i grow in gateway music... it's just a question of taste
ATB = LOL.
I did enjoy his remake of Olive though, it was as shit as it was good at the same time, thats rare theses days.
Still he's got more dollar than us all put together and a studio to die for shame he can only use it to make LOL's.
dude, you even said it yourself
