haha... reminds me of what my uncle says about trance... " you're listening to that cleanning the streets music again."

supposedly it sounds like people cleanning the streets with brooms water so on...

i agree with the others who think that your dad is just really concerned with drug use and maybe he can't express his feelings any other way. the way the media has painted the whole rave/club scene is that if you listen to this music, then you do take drugs. that's why he may come to the media-fed logical conclusion that trance is devil's music when it really isn't that at all. explain to your dad that spinning trance music actually reduces your drug use and i think that he may change his mind about the music. right now he just doesn't know how to deal with the situation. i'm sure your dad only wants what's best for you.

i'm sorry your dad is one of them.

tell him this country has freedom of religion, and you can practice whatever religion you want. and that even if you want to be christian, there is absolutely nothing demonic about any music. it does not say anything about music in the bible, nor has ANY pastor preached against it, it is only the crazy christians who are insecure with themselves and their beliefs that are this way.

OK I am really starting to hate these forums...dude...I know you hate Christians, this I know, but the derogatory remarks you make are not cool and are an extreme stereotype...the same as judging one based on their sexual orientation, race, creed, color all that. It ain't cool and it ain't an educated remark. Being Christian does not make someone crazy or whatever, aperson who is overzealous can be so without being Christian, such as yourself. You are an overzealous atheist. Relax with the bullshit comments, the kids dad is reading to much into it and thats it...the religion is irrelevant at this iscussion. Read one of my other posts about why I like this music...because its a universal music that allows anyone to enjoy it without having to follow a certain beleif system or culture. If you like rap and agree with the musics message, you have to agree with or desire in your heart, killing people, stealing money, fucking every bitch in site and generally being a lazy useless part of society (for the most part...not all tracks but the general message is that). I don't and find I can't listen to it because I get sickened hearing the same bullshit all the time. With trance, I can be Christian, you can be atheist, another can be Jewish, another can be gay, another straight, another can use drugs another can abstain from mind-altering substances. Its just beats and synths...

I can't understan how you have to offend so many people with every one of your damn posts.

He will see the light in the track Electrique Boutique - Revelation (Ferry Corsten remix)

if that doesnt change his opinion nothing will!

I wouldn't be that harsh, especially to davinox... he may be an atheist but I don't think he really meant to offend christians in his post. If he did, there would have been some flaming going on in that yates thread, but we managed to have a good debate.

"there are crazy christians all over the place... it is only the crazy christians who are insecure with themselves and their beliefs that are this way"... it really depends how you interpret that.

There are lots of crazy people... the fact that they're christian is irrelevant.

Posted by randummboy on Apr-06-2002 03:31:

Lazgti.. OMG, you are such a hypocrit!!! talking aobut sterotypes and then you make those comments about rap music.. and how the heck are your comments "educated"?? they sound pretty opinionated to me

seriously man.. loose the tude!

Posted by Lazgti on Apr-06-2002 04:19:

Randomboy...I don't think you understood my point...

I don't like to listen to shit...if an idiot is going to rap about how hard ghetto life is and how it is better to pop caps in the ass of some sucka to steal his dough, (and yes there is alot of this tude in the music...it is the music's culture)...then I...key word I am not going to listen to it...because I don't agree with that at all. Its like me agreeing the sky is red when it in fact is blue...or I beleive it to be blue...whether the rap artist is a killer and a theif or not is irrelevant the message he/she puts out is in fact that message...so I can choose not to listen...I don't tell people not to listen to it...I DON'T STAND FOR IT SO WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO IT...I, ME, MYSELF...how the hell is that a stereotype.

Quite frankly all I have been seeing in the damn chillout section is anti-Christian posts based on stereotypes. I just made a comment based on the music I have heard and have decided for myself (not for you, not for anyone on this board or elsewhere...) that I do not want to listen to. My point was alluding to trance music being universal in the sense that 10 different people can listen to it yet all have different lifestyles, beleifs, etc. Maybe I am having difficulty articulating, but the point I am making is that noone has to conform to a certain culture to listen to trance, where as you do if you want to truly appreciate rap. Anyone can listen to it, but to respect the lyrics etc. you have to somewhat accept the meaning behind them...thats not a stereotype thats what it is...what do people listen to hip-hop for man...the beat only...the music itself is incidental, the primary is the vocals and the lyrics. In that case these lyrics DO have impact and influence on people and the point I make, I CHOOSE not to be influenced because I do not stand for that message or group of differing nonsense messages...thats it.

Anyways, I find it hard to beleive I am getting dissed here because I took offence to the thirty millionth anti-Christian post in here.

I have no personal problem with anybody here because quite frankly I don't know anyone here from a hole in the ground...but I am sick of seeing the same shit being posted. I find it ridiculous that we all take stands for stupid shit like DJ flaming, or whatever, yet we allow people to just write all sorts of crap in connection with ones religious beliefs. Its stupid...someone disses PvD or in my case I make my opinion about rap vocal and I get killed yet, when there are posts basically saying that Christians are idiots and their beliefs are screwed up etc. thats OK...thats pretty stupid if you ask me

Excellent post Lazgti I think it just proves that not many people really care about God.

Hey Robby, is it just me, or are you and I the only really passive people here?? Maybe not passive, but reasonable.. hmm i dont know how to put it.. anyways, I hate it when people post shit like "Oakey sucks" and that anti-religion shit. Yes, youre all entitled to your opinion, and its ok if you can back it up with some reasonable facts, but just blindly stating shit like that is really stupid and someday you gonna get fucked for making blind statements like those.

BTW this is not to anyone in particular here, just an observation from over the last few months.

hmm...well...i was only talking about the crazy ones with little grasp on reality. (the ones who become paranoid about hell, like the dad seems)

real, pure christians i have alot of respect for. in fact, their beliefs are just as justified as mine... (even though i still think they are wrong, we are on opposite sides of the same circle and both logical)

Smoking ..umm..something

What really pisses me off is people who try to impose their religion on others, or judge people based on their religion (or lack thereof).

People who call trance "devil's music" are just giving christianity a bad name. The rave culture is not exactly a christian pursuit, but that doesn't make it evil. Also, I'm yet to hear a trance song which advocate anything anti-christian.

Ok well I dunno if religion is gonna be nonexistent in the form that it is now in a few thousand years (maybe it will be) but all I know is that there's a God etc, I'm not religious because I don't agree with following rules imposed on me because they say "it is right" and saying so because God has told them so. I say people read whatever religious text they feel is necessary to help them in their own lives and then if they don't want to take part in the religion then it's fine. And there's nothing wrong with somebody informing another person of their beliefs, it's just when that person IMPOSES their beliefs on that person where I see a problem. My two cents.

what are you talking about?? those are the worst kind, celibacy this, clean lifestyle that. pure BS. they're fantical wackos who can't deal with reality. it's all a scam, heaven is a myth, don't hold back. the bible is fiction that was created to control the masses. if there is a higher being , I'm sure he has more important things on his agenda then whether a humanoid lifeform on one of the thousands of planets sticks his pee-wee into another lifeform. religion = oppression = ignorance. if you find bliss in ignorance, all the power to you, but I choose to accept my existence.

Arrow

Just show your dad some epic/uplifting stuff, even cheesy, just whatever that has a nice melody, doesn't have a phat bass, and (optionally) has a sweet female vocal singing something the most innocently possible.

And DON'T play Marco V - Godd. Or 666's traxx. Or Scooter - Fuck The Millenium. Or Night Club - French Kiss (Scot Project Mix)

In Christianity, actually, celebracy is a crock. (go forth and multiply...sex after marriage is not a sin!!!)
And a clean lifestyle, that is what they believe.

I know it looks 99.9999999999999999999999999999999 % (keep going a few hundred 9's.) like we have no clue how we were created, thus proving all religion as bullshit people made up.

However, there is a chance, as long as you don't have hypocritical beliefs (like believing in spirits and ghosts and being a Christian) has sense in it.

BASICALLY, we do not know for sure why we are here, and if someone wants to assume a far-fetched theory of religion instead of ever-evolving scientific discovery, let them. Religion is a byproduct of human emotion and lack of understanding, it is a natural thing.

granted, but that doesn't excuse religious types who are close minded and force their beliefs on you.

it's a defense mechanism against the ultimate reality. you are but a spec on earth, and earth is but a spec in the universe. people who have wasted their life away don't want to believe that this is it. a lot of people don't realize how short life is in the big scheme of things. or they do but can't deal with it. eventually the human race will evolve to the level where they can live longer and maybe even clue together our creation , but we should just be happy we got to live at this stage of technology. look at how we're communicating. ignorant people take this for granted.

The stereotype is thinking that all rap is like that. It's not. Never been, and never would've been if it wasnt for those wackos out of Compton.

Posted by OLi_A on Apr-09-2002 10:11:

some good points have been risen here but everyone is entitled to their own opinion as is regurgitated everywhere. people are the products of their generation and upbringing which is why nearly every parent is so close minded about the things we do as their children.

someone once told me that religion was created to keep everyone in line. that christianity places the leader of a country and any other influencial figure (ie bishops and priests) as having direct contact with god, which made them powerful. it also helped detail how everyone should live. i think i may have strayed a bit from the point here but it sounds interesting

give everyone a go at listening to trance and if they dont like it who cares, its their loss isnt it?
