Thank you. Just thank you

It was used in at least one soundtrack, yeah, but the context in which you first hear something doesn't necessarily have anything at all to do with who produced / wrote it or the purpose for which it was originally produced.

I wish everybody would understand that, but maybe that's hoping for the impossible.

Not originally. Its a piece of classical music composed by Samuel Barber that was interpreted many times and accidentaly also here for example. However, this has nothing to do with Orbit, Tiesto & Corsten.

Wow, really? Damn, he must have been a hell of a forward thinker!

Samuel Barber made the original Adagio For Strings as the "peak" part of a composition called String Quartet No. 1, Op. 11 back in 1936. More than anything else, Adagio For Strings has been used as a funeral music for politicians, presidents and other powerful persons over the years. The best known classical performances of the piece have been by Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (in the 1986 movie Platoon, d'oh!) and London Symphony Orchestra whose version has got a massive success as a digital download.

William Orbit "synthesized" the track in 1999, now titled as Barber's Adagio For Strings, and this one was also remixed by Ferry Corsten and ATB within the same year.

Before Tisto came up with his take on the track in 2004, there were countless EDM remixes and remakes made and released by various artists.

Yep now i know you just meant it was used as a piece of a soundtrack, not originally made to be one.
