Sounds like a great idea.

A way to make the track pool affordable would be to limit the selections to "back catalog" tracks ($1.49) on Beatport. Maybe have a pool of 10 of them, which would require a max investment of $15 (if the DJs are going to use all of those tracks).

or another idea could be have just tracks from producers on TA then everyone could just download a .ZIP file with all the tracks in them. That way the producers get there tracks out 2 ppl and the DJ's get free tracks to work with.

Just an idea but it might work.

Nice thinking!

Problem with that, though, is it'd limit it to people who use CDJs or software, but I think the benefits outweigh that.

well its already pretty limited to CDJ's anyway because i dont c to many vinyl djs goning out and buying 5-6 vinyls just for 1 comp

Thats fine to have TA artists or Beatport cheapies or whatever, but only some of the time (in fact i really like the idea of a TA artists themed one). Still give the vinyl dj's a chance to enter though, its a bit stupid excluding us from it totally.

I still think it'd be best to be a series, allows different genres and different dj's each round.

Posted by bamski on Mar-20-2007 08:15:

Your absolutely right.
I'd want to hear an opinion from Allied Nations(?)

there you go...change genres each month, and alternate b/w TA producers & other stuff month-to-month, perhaps. Trance(ish), house(ish), tech(ish something) maybe.

The idea is for us all to use pretty much da same choons coz it'll be interesting to hear the difference in peoples mixing styles, ideas others come up with & essentially how others do their funky ting. Do it your way & we lose that.

My 2p - like others said, mix 5 tracks from a pool of 8 or 10, either Beatport cheapos to keep the cost down or classics to help accommodate the vinyl dinosaurs

Like the idea of using ta producer tracks but like others said it kicks out the vinylheads which is a shame.

PS Trance please

I'm in dire need of experience like this, so count me in.

Posted by lawrenceq on Mar-20-2007 14:24:

We can call it the "noob fest amateur jam" or something seeming as we all need the experience! either way im pumped for it, should be fun :P

Posted by sanduad on Mar-20-2007 14:47:

Count me in to. When do we start?

Posted by lawrenceq on Mar-20-2007 14:49:

Sounds like fun

cool idea- i'm in for sure

Posted by chris harrington on Mar-20-2007 22:42:

Yeh well someone should take an initiative and start putting things together. I would but i dont have time to listen to all the mixes.

Posted by shaw on Mar-20-2007 23:00:

I'd be willing to kick in some time on the logistical end of it. First, though, I think we need to come to a consensus as to what the first one will be, anyways. I think it's poll time, since we need a genre & a type of track to use (TA or otherwise).

Posted by lawrenceq on Mar-20-2007 23:02:

trance anyone?

i would do trance, house, techno, or chill out any of those but i would proably give the other styles a shot as well but it would suck lol

I think trance, house, & techno (and all their myriad variations) are the main options. There's no way to make everybody happy, but those would probably get the most interest.

Posted by lawrenceq on Mar-20-2007 23:11:

I can deal with that
