Thief!

Yeah, I'm not exactly waiting with bated breath about this either, but we'll just have to wait and see. I thought Reflections was OK, Nothing But You and Crush imo are the best songs on it but his older stuff is WAY better and probably always will be.

I'm more curious to know how he came with the title rather than the music that will be on it. Sounds a little suspicious and going with the Vanity Fair article, I have to raise an eyebrow to it...

So is this an artist album?

Posted by Zharen on Mar-27-2007 10:00:

I'm kinda curious, but then, I'm kinda not.

out!

Yeah this is his first artist album since 2003's Reflections.

I think everyone would love to see a return to the style of tracks that he produced in his earlier years, but to be honest even if he did, it would get labeled as CHEESE.
Which is a stupid speculation at best.

If he does an album that was 'unexpected', trying different types of music, he would disappoint his long lived fans.

If he does an album that is typical PvD, it is more fuel for people who dislike him.

Either way he loses on TA.

It's just names... if he released the same stuff under different alias, and didn't tell anyone it was him, it would probably get a totally different review...

Personally I am looking forward to the release, and actually enjoyed a couple tracks off of reflections. I really loved his global dvd that he put out, it was fun to see pvd around the world, and had some great footage from clubs all over the place. I am glad to see artist albums and no more of this mix album crap. Artist albums ftw!

i totally don't agree. I don't know if you were around when PvD released his Out There And Back album back in 2000. Alot of people expected an album with the same sound as his For An Angel 98 but PvD instead went for a more progressive sound. Still this was well recieved among both the hardcore PvD fans and those who newly discovered him.

Posted by naeblis on Mar-27-2007 21:19:

ya I was around, and loved the album, despite it being a bit more progressive, it was still very PVDish and held enough melody in all the tracks to be a great listen... and by modern standards, that kind of progressive is hardly ever heard anymore...

If he put out something like "face to face" or "Pikes" or even "another way", BUT used modern samples, beefed it up the bass a bit... it would without a doubt, be labeled as CHEESE.

my point is still that Out there and back was an album which showcased the new PvD sound (with or without melodies) and it still scored well among fans and critics.
I myself started to see the decline of PvD after the release of Nothing but you. I loved everything PvD touched until I heard that song. I was shocked. The tune was a disaster. And my fears were confirmed. It could only get worse and worse it did go.

not really looking forward to this one.

Although I liked some tracks of him in the past, I've never really been a big PvD fan. Hopefully his album doens't contain too much vocal tracks and he'll surprise us with this one

I predict 1-2 bangin tracks.

Oh yeah, it gets as bad as "Connected", which was bloody awesome in the Moto remix.

I loved it when it was released...still a great euphoric party track

Am i the only one excited for this, Im a die hard fan of pvd so i so dont see why you guys were flaming him. However i see that 2006 was ahorrible year for him, the only good thing that happened was that he got the #1 on dj mags poll, and even being a fan im not sure he deserved that one, avb should of gotten it. But im dying for his album to come out.

Well, he's practically hit the nail on the head.

His recent productions, have been watered down pish with terrible vocals added.
The last thing he produced did of any use was 'Autumn', and that wasnt released. I also liked his remix of 'Pictures'
His Zurdo soundtrack was very good. It felt and sounded like he was going back to his roots when he produced that. The Game, Buenaventura and Animacion were class tracks amongst others.

Then we go back to 45RPM, 7 Ways and Out There And Back. They were of the highest quality. Good solid instrumentals.

I reckon this new album will be shit.

well thats your opinion, yes he did have some bad productions, like nothing but you and kaleidoscope (omg) but no one is perfect sometimes you just have to ignore the mistakes your favorite artists make and keep a clear mind, because if your always going to be thinking every single album from that person is going to be crap, than to you it is going to be crap. i actually thought refections was a great album with the exeption of the 2 tracks mentioned.Every single artist changes their style, you just have to grow up with the artist if you are a fan.

1. In my opinion the entire Reflections album was awful. That's why I don't have much hopes for this new album.

2. I have nothing against producers taking a new path, and if you read one of my earlier posts in this thread I clearly explained that PvD did make a dramatic change of sound back in 2000 when he released Out There And Back and many people thought was that it was a good change. But Reflection was NOT a good change since it catered for the wider pop audience, hence all the awful vocals PvD have infected his latest tunes with.

And that thing about ignoring the mistakes is laughable. I knew that Tiesto fans were this ignorant but LOL seriously?! You could probably say that if he had released one or two really bad tunes in a short while and blame it on bad luck. But PvD have been churning out piss tunes and remixes for the last couple of years. And YES it is very very sad because everyone knows which potential he have.

alright now u went overboard

First. lets clear something out, Im not a big tiesto fan

2nd. Just because your mom doesnt give you enough attention, or your 6th grade girlfriend broke up with you, that doesnt give you any right to call me ignorant, sinse you dont even know me. Clearly you are no older than....12.

3rd. Its because of people like you that classic artists cant get to nowhere after their 3rd album or so, I bet you if you were an outstanding producer but u just couldnt come up with the right sound and your fans started to leave you, u would cry like a little girl for another chance.

4th. If you wanna bash on pvd and his productions, maybe because you want to start an argument, or because simply you dont like them, thats fine with me, i really dont give two craps, but be mature enough to respect other peoples opinions as well without being a close minded baby and appealing to insults.

....well yes, but not when you have hope the person can come back and you think they deserve credit, without mentioning that its pretty hard to leave an artist you love listening to.
