Must be a yank thing.

I caught the gay once, fortunately there are ointments out to prevent it from remaining.

Posted by noikeee on Mar-21-2007 12:03:

Of course, I always take it in the ass everytime i play a track.

I really think it's just an yank thing too, nobody ever called me gay cause of it.

Posted by eRRaTiK on Mar-21-2007 12:33:

i've been known to be gay (happy) from time to time.

what that has to do with what music I listen to I have no idea.

/listens to Rick Astley

Posted by sljiva on Mar-21-2007 12:53:

I don't listen to electro house, so no. I'm not gay
But I hate people with frooty behaviour (whether they're gay or not)

Ted Homo?!?

I am not a ghey.

There is a lot of background to the notion of EDM as "gay music," as has been shown here. And to an extent, it is. Hell, my first large party was held at a traditionally gay club. I have a "fag-hag" cousin in LA who hangs out with gay men because they have the better parties by a mile. Ultimately, you should take it in stride. Sling some sarcasm at her, it really shows disdain for such opinions better than any insult could.

Posted by Taranis on Mar-21-2007 13:43:

I don't think I've ever met anyone who associates dance music with homosexuality, it's just seen as club/party/rave music here.

Fuck her hard in the ass. That would leave her wondering if you are straight cuz you did her or gay cuz you only wanted anal.

Posted by Hydarnes on Mar-21-2007 15:02:

Well, it's definitely a myth that trance/techno/house are dominated by gay listeners. Usually if they do, it's the uber-commercial material that has been permeating the scene and often misunderstood for "techno" or whatever they want to call it. But then again, most straight people listen to junk as well so it would just be following the same pattern.

Of course, I just happen to be. ...and good taste in music (or in this case, trance) is not limited to orientation.

...But considering the less-than-amiable atmosphere in this place, I think it would discourage anyone who is gay from even mentioning it...so I seriously doubt you'll get a very accurate statistic anyway.

You think this place is 'less than amiable'? I once got bored and decided to kill some time by creating a new account on a gaming forum I frequanted at the time and started dropping increasingly obvious hints that my constructed persona was gay, just to see how much of a rise it would get out of people once they managed to get the point. The reaction was amusing as hell, to say the least.

The gay scene was always willing to try something, er, outside the norm. That's part of the reason dance music took root there. It was something innovative and different.

The unabashed hedonism of gay nightlife also played a part. Some early house would have made a hooker blush. The rhythm oozed sex on purpose, and you couldn't get the same frenetic dirtiness at the pace of disco.

It's really too bad that the gay scene is such a shadow of its former self. Circuit house stopped moving over a decade ago, and now it's just a sad joke.

+1

Also, I am not gay. Do with that what you will.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-21-2007 16:05:

In the UK, going clubbing is regarded as a good way to pull with the opposite sex. Which is the complete opposite of being regarded as a gay activity.

Same here, the ignorants that don't know shit about electronic dance music just categorize it as music for gay people, or even worse and what rly pisses me off, they say that trance is the same as techno..

and i'm straight

when ppl ask me what music do i listen to, i say, Electronic and they're like, oh techno? and im like, NO! u asshole not every fucking type of electronic mjusic is techno u ignorant idiot..

so i tell em that i don't like techno

some ppl say that i'm stupid just cuz mah musik , yet i ignore em. i don't care what they say or think whatsoever.

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Mar-21-2007 16:46:

if you can dance like this you get 20 minutes in the back of the car with her.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Mar-21-2007 16:55:

Why would you care even if 99.999% of EDM listeners were gay? What the fuck would it matter as long as you like the music?

Anybody who tries to insult a musical form because of the orientation of its listeners is a fucking tool.

Are you talking about miami or DR? because here is even worst

Posted by winston on Mar-21-2007 19:33:

Techno, like Rock and Alternative is filled with "ghey" people but that doesn't mean that everyone who digs it, makes it, promotes it or enjoys it actually is. And who cares if they are...

Remember that just like without Richie there is no Plastikman, without Freddie Mercury, "Queen" would have never existed.

And if you think Queen sucks you're GAY. period....

i NEVER got this stereotype?! i don't undertsand...maybe they think about gay clubs and then assume that every male who listens to edm is gay. maybe they assume that the house music that is more lilely to be played in gay clubs is ALL edm. it's an assanine assumption to be quite honest.

there was a tranceaddict group on facebook for my school and it said something like "for thosethat like trance but are not necessarily gay..." i was like huh? do people really think this way?

i am straight.

I don't think they do. The percentage is quite low, because believe it or not in America electronic music isn't that popular anyway. In europe, it's taken for granted, if you've been there you know it's a completely different story. Even the Queen of England bumps her head when she hears that dirty bassline!

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Mar-21-2007 19:50:

The bigger problem is the existence of backward knuckle-draggers who think that being "gay music" makes music bad.

Please read this before posting comments. I am an almost 22 year old male who has, for the past 4 years gotten into techno/trance and see it as my particular genre of choice. My friends girlfriend and others I have come into contact with always think I am being "gay" or commenting that techno is only for gay men. I know this can often hold true, but for the hell of it I wanted to create this poll just to see. No offense is intended and I have nothing against anyone that is homosexual, I just want to see the numbers. Thanks

God you're dumb.
