I just noticed a lot of dj's have '&' in their name. Whats with that?

so the trend these days seems to be that DJ names consists of letters from the alphabet

His artist name
His real name is actually Mathias Paul, but well... Paul van Dyk just sounds better than Mathias Paul.

Same thing with Sander van Doorn. His real name is Sander Ketelaars, but hey... Sander van Doorn also sounds better than Sander Ketelaars... Easier to pronounce for most of the ppl, and it sounds also better..

I guess DJs with a "van" in their name mainly add it to their name because they want their name to sound better/"cooler". Except Armin of course, whose real name is Armin van Buren

Armin from Buuren

Paul from Dyk

made sense when some guy told me

lol guess not ~_~

"from", yes. but in translation to english i think it would be more like "of". Armin of Buuren (family name). Paul of Dyk (family name)

if i were a dj, i'd most likely just use my real name or use my first name and last initial.

then i would get extemely creative with the aliases...

DJ Chocolate?

The sheer stupidity of the premise of this thread gave me the best laugh I've had in a long time.

lol... i'd have to be a very good dj to use that name

not quite sure at the moment. i'd probably use something like "A", "Type A"... (not the most creative) but i think i would base it around the music i make under that alias and then come to a better alias name.

"So many DJs stick 'John' in their names! John Askew, John '00' Fleming, John Digweed?!"

i'd probably piss myself laughing if someone said that for real
