Thats the difference when it comes down to it. While I enjoy a set with just "tunes", a set like that is a dime-a-dozen and unless the music is ridiculously good, I won't keep coming back to it. Whereas something like the Howells mix, I'll be putting that mix on in 2 years time just to kick back and listen to some good music.

Again what I consider "good" music is obviously very different from what you consider "good" music. I listen to the SOS mix all the time as you would the Howells mix, it's the sound I like. I'm in no way saying the Howells mix is horrible, but it's just not what I look for in the music i listen to.

Tough call...

SOS mix would have been mindblowing at a club.

But I like just chilling stuff too...

Slight edge to Howells.

Pending on your mood I guess.

I wasn't trying to say that Howells' EM is "good" music and SOS isn't. I dunno how to explain it. I guess the Howells EM is more meant for sitting down and listening. That's what I meant when I said "good music". Not trying to argue the quality of the actual songs itself, more about the overall musical journey I guess.

Whatever. Both mixes are good, Howells is just gooder imo

edit

since we're sort of on the subject of Masiello, one set of his that I would classify more as "tunes/party" set but also with that "journey" side is his EM from WMC 2005 and his Private Party mix from 21-06-2006.

Cant get enough of the SOS mix.
Every house or party I play it at here (in Croatia) has everyone asking "who is this??!!?"

Because of this, I think the more educated/seasoned edm fan can understand and feel the Howells EM, whereas the SOS mix is more easily liked by the avg passer-by who just likes a party CD.
