Oh, and the old Leama & Moor remix of Forme is shit too. |
Totally disagree. Never cared for the original Forme. It was creative and innovative yes, but to me it lacked something which gave it an amateur feel for me.
The Leama and Moor remix gave it that professional touch. Well mastered, gorgeous added synths, and a great flow throughout. Still a track I listen too this day.
Will see how these new mixes measure up. It'll prob be a bunch of bleepity blop electro garbage tho.

The only "professional touch" they added was done with the "Sean Tyas 'Needs More Kick'" mentality. Leama and Moor's mix honestly makes even the will of the wisp mix seem like brilliance, if only for the fact that it actually DID something with "Forme", instead of just cashing in on an easily mixable and exceptionally unimaginable remix like L&M did.

I love the Shiloh & Micah mix, it rocks. and I'm a HUGE fan of the original and the Leama & Moor rmx. I actually played the Shatterfist rmx in my afterhoursdjs set this week, it was perfect. glad to have a 'new' badass mix of this classic track.

why does it seem that trance fans need carbon copies in their remixes? |
Micah, I'd be careful with what you say on this worldwide electronic dance music community. While yes, there are some newbs here; everyone for the most part has been in the scene for years.
I'd also be the first to say your remix with Shiloh was one of the last great remixes I've heard from you and/or Shiloh. Shiloh went into Lala land producing popular electrohouse and abandoned their core fanbase who spread their buzz from hybridized to tranceaddict.com and everywhere else back in late 2004. Personally I believe you have shown true musical integrity by sticking with melodic techy progressive and has kept pushing it. Insulting trance fans when the genre you produce in has more people jumping ship than ever before, can prove to be a disaster.

ok, yes, insulting "trance fans" was not really the way I should have gone, but in this instance one person's passionate hatred for the tune angered me.
I appologize to anyone who took this as a direct insult....
please take note that my comment was somewhat proved here when Demoted exclaimed that the reason he hates our mix is because he loves the original so much, and we took it far from the original
anyways, enough nerding about, I have an album to finish

Take a listen to Shiloh - Cafe Del Mariachi and you will see that they still produce amazing music.
Micah,
I don't like the remix because I really think the melody is just so soft for a tougher remix like yours. When I heard this live in Victoria, lasttime you played, you dropped this and I went off when I heard that recognizble melody. After listening to it at home now, I relize that I liked it cause of the state of mind I was in.
I do respect your passion for own productions. Personally, there needs to be more producers out there who care so much about their work. On a side note, I can't beleive this track was made 3 years ago as it sounds like it's brand new!

Daso remix takes the cake here. However the only one I could see fitting into my sets would be the Will of the Wisp remix. It's a shame it's not as good as it could've been.

Didnt buy any of them, original for me.

For the record, Micah is right. The man knows the duo himself. Shiloh has moved away from that sound towards a more rugged funky electrohouse sound. Cafe del Mariachi was produced in 2005 and showcased on their website for months prior to the formation of Floppy Discs. It's become well known this year though because of its release and the Nick Warren remix. Vice and Sentrino are over a year old as well, prepared well in advance for Blood the album and its promo.

There's just some tracks that in their original form are very hard to improve upon. To me, Forme is one of them. I haven't liked any of the remixes thus far that have been made for it and I especially didn't like yours. That's not to say I wouldn't appreciate a good remix, there just hasn't been one made yet that I enjoyed more than the original, or even just enjoyed.
But to say that I across the board hate remixes was absurd.
aaaaaaaaand to say that I am a trance fan was absurd
Anyways, still looking forward to this new album. Details! Details!

Should I feel guilty for still liking the Leama & Moor Remix?

I could see Micah & Shiloh's remix doing some damage though, nice remix for a different time on the floor.
