I think everyone around europe has admitted england should be used as the model for building new stadia, so to say they don't get credit for it isn't entirely accurate.
The problem I think with most countries like italy is the hard line fans don't want to sacrifice atmosphere for comfort. All seater stadia have a tendancy to detract from atmosphere a lot, as you now see with grounds like old trafford, the emirates and stamford bridge.
I know one thing is for sure, parkhead has never been the same since it was made all seater - you get the atmosphere at european games, but even they aren't what they used to be, that coupled with the fact the majority of our songs are now outlawed by that **** jack mcconnel means the league games are sat through in near silence. Our keeper artur boruc compared supporters in britain to an audience at the cinema.
I still feel there is a place in football for terracing at ground if it can be done without sacrificing saftey (borussia dotmund have achieved this).

definitely, it just might not be a brilliant thing in places. they'd have to regulate numbers going into each section, make them all very safe and do a lot of crowd policing for trouble. In theory it's a good idea but it's the practice and putting it into such.

It works. I love terracing it's so much more atmospheric standing at a match I remember it as a kid and loved it. There are many benefits you can literally boost the capacity by about a half, no more sellout games or having to be a member to get tickets.
We had the Hillsborough diaster. I come from a Liverpool supporting household and usually end up enraging everyone when I mention it, not only did the Yorkshire Police mess up which was proved but most people forget Scousers back then did have a habit of one paying at the turnstyles whilst another two jump over it, which combined with the exits being blocked the overcrowding didn't help out.

Despite winning the World Cup, Italians are currently the fucking joke of football. Match fixing scandals and now all this crowd trouble....just wow! They can't even keep the peace in domestic games and anybody who is defending them now is seriously disillusioned.
Frankly, it might be time to stop allowing visiting fans to these games. The British police seem to have a good handle on things but I would certainly not be travelling throughout the continent to follow my team these days. I might get beaten over the head by some unqualified wop cop while already unconscious.

Wop cop?
Do you enjoy being a racist?
AC Milan are running Man U close to gain entry to the CL final, and they are no where near the best team in Italy at the minute. Calling their football a joke because of crowd trouble seems a bit ignorant.
Mind you you are a racist, so I guess ignoance is part of your nature..

Trouble outside Old Trafford tonight involving both Man Utd and Roma fans, bottles and missiles thrown. 4,000 Roma fans in Manchester for the game.
Police contained the incident within 5 minutes. Perhaps the Italian police could learn a thing or two. |
The main problem that people do not understand is that IF police is too harsh, tomorrow there will be some politicians saying "Police was too harsh", 2-3 policemen fired, then nothing more.
There is also a diffuse impunity for some act like this.. Generally no one will pay. Because no politician wants to lose votes from people loving soccer (50% of population).
