-- [Review] Ferry Corsten / Jason Jollins @ Pacha 4/20/07
Pages (9): « 1 [2] 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 »
I got to pacha lil bit after 1 am. I heard only the last 2 songs of JJ's set so i cant really comment on that. Ferry Corsten was great. I havent seen him since his residency at Crobar last year. I forgot how awesome of a DJ he is. He brought out so many good things to the table. It felt soooooooooooo good being there and to listen to amazing CHOOONS.
It was nice to meet up with the TA's and it was cool to see some of us wearing white clothing. The floor was crowded in the beginning but after 4am it started to clear up a lil bit. I started losing my juice at around 546 am, but after a brief period of a rest, i went back to dancing again. It was an amazing night. Ferry kicked my ass.

All these reviews and no one mentions the special guest appearance by HOLLYWOOD with the championship belt, I am shocked, nice meeting Big Mike, big ups to Pete-Fotoaddict, Ferry was tremendous, better than his WMC sets, good for MADE, they seemed to have a packed house, Jason Jollins is great local DJ and deserves all the credit for playing a set that ha the crowd goin full steam, "Now I Can See", that track was sick someone ID it please

Lyss and I got a photo of him right at the end with him, his belt and a signed poster. Apparently he's doing So You Think You Can Dance.

getting there early was the biggest mistake i could have ever made.
by 12:15 i was just about ready to get the fuk out.
After seeing nothing but Edgar V open up for all the big Trance dj's in Miami [who knows how to open up PROPER] JJ was just sad.
I think him dropping trance towards the end of his set extremely mother fuking slow was just a diss to all the producers. I highly doubt the producers wanted their songs playing at 136 bpm.
Ferry was okay.. I left kinda early.
I hope JJ doesn't open up for PvD up here cuz 135 bpm[JJ] to 145[PvD] is a huge difference.
edit that song ferry played with the sample of Bohemian Rhapsody was absolutely sick though

hahah smack my bitch up, that woulda been great... i was DEAD tired at like 5:15 i couldn't stand up any longer, had to leave.
yoooo what the hell was that track he played when they filled the place with C02, like REALLY filled it.... it's such a popular tune, i think stan took a little video of it. it sounded thrillseekers-ish, but could be a ferry track too. i feel like we were a buncha noobs cuz no one could ID it lol....
anyone know who's remix of Fix You that was? that shit was sweeeeet...
p.s. - fuckin great seeing everybody, i haven't been out in forever, i had so much fun, i'm glad the whole crew was there!
oh and uhmm...

i just got in after goin to work straigh from ferry iam shot
but over all it was a good night i had alot of fun with the nyta's
jasons opening set was quality i agree the last like 20 min he was spinning too hard for an opener but he was dropin bombs
cosmic gate and way out west- the fall(richard durrand mix)
ferry came on and his first hour was flawless he didnt give u a min to rest just giving the crowd wat they wanted
after that he was good but imo not the best ferry set but i still had a good time
and during the co2 blast for like 2 min straight was nuts i never seen nutin like that before i was shivering like a mofo but it was still crazy
those lasers with the disco balls were sick
sound was good my ears arent even ringing today
good to see all the nyta's imo made the night we held shit down
it was really really packed last night it kinda sucked
but it was good
good seeing all the nyta girls wearing white and being sexy
good seeing gmoney- thank god we didnt have any snow last night lol
and i had fun with u abuseing all the cracked out asian girls
big mike- good seeing you for a min i hope that gig thing works out
kadomony- good seeing you and haveing a good time freezing durin that co2 blast lol

stanvoid- good chillin with you, you know your tracks and know how to have a good time
and last but not least mr robdawg- i dont think i ever seen anyone so drunk before in my entire life lmao, good fighting with you at the end for m.i.k.e flyers on the floor lmao
but now here comes a sad and bad part in the review= alot and i mean alot of drugs last night goin around in that club
i seen atleast 2 drug deals goin on before my eyes
atleas4 or 5 people doing bumps out in the open
and had atleast 2 people ask me for k
i dunno i mean pacha was shut down last week, they dont need that shit in their club they need to step secutiry up and get that crap out before another nyc club goes down under
aaaah the track in the CO2 blast was Sweet Sorrow (Thrillseekers Remix)
i said that's what it was but someone was like NOOOOO
MWUAHAH!!!!
tracklists hrm...
opener i believe was Poison Pro - Hello haha and that's all i remember
hahaha y0 AY - i lost all my flyers like an idiot hahaha

definitely a great night and a great party. JJ was sick, loved it when he dropped Nic Chagal - What You Need (Progg Mix). What a great breakdown in that track. Ferry was very very good the first hour or two. That moment when they blasted cold air and fog for a good 30 seconds was one of the best moments in my partying career to this day - and I think the track that was played was Ferry Corsten - Sweet Sorrow (Thrillseekers Remix). After he dropped the remix of cold play's fix you, though (which was awesome), I feel like his set lost the magic it had in the beginning. He turned harder and more electronic, which is fine but definitely a step down after the first hour of euphoric straight trance. Either way, though, GREAT night. Was nice meeting SebG, DJ Eco, phuzzyfish, and many others
oh, and, I forgot to mention the walk home with Rob & AY. You guys are fucking flyer junkies. What was that shit all about? lol We walk like 3 blocks from the club and the two start picking up all these washed up party flyers from the ground. You bums. Rob collected like 20 - I mean he had a jonathan peters one, a ferry @ cielo one, an above&beyond one. Him and AY were actually fighting over the Jonathan Peters flyer.
And then Rob just leaves them on my fucking desk. That's going in the trash dude.

Review of Ferry....or as Yankee put it, Bal en Blanc part DEUX-aftermath
ill start by saying, i had a killer week at my first week at my new job, so i didn't really have any expectations for tonight(besides hoping that Friday's set would be better than his last NYC set) and also practically took madd time during lunch to go shopping with no results (2 hrs on Friday and i was about to give up on the allwhite outfit we had all promised Kelly we would do for the show)
but..eventually i had it...and we got inside at 1045, and I was the first of the WHITE krew there...eventually they all showed up
first pics of the night...
A great shot...of the most underrated dj of NEW YORK CITYYYYY cheers Jason, LOVED YA

first us three...

then mere finally comes!!! yay!! the krew in WHITE

chimera, phoenixbebe, yankee, phuzzyfish

caught this PRICELESS shot (i think it was JAY)

the first TA group shot

...and with that ill say that I def enjoyed the FIRST half must better than the seocnd half. Jason Jollins just *killed it* without a doubt - man u just get better and better...nice seeing ya stop by on the main floor for a change
and we better see you OPEN for Above and Beyond on June 1 <-- a welcome surprise to see announced among MADE EVENTS summer lineup
) Ferry came on and it was banging...there were def a few very interesting remixes of songs...loved hearing Analog Feel - Cosmic Gate early on in his set...i def have to see the tracklisting for this one...
the place was ass crowded, hate PACHA and 18+ events!!! sheesh
we were soo close to the dj booth up in front but a group of fobs got there before we did...and i swear the no-shaking dance was all around me, i was SKERRED lol and ppl laughed cuz i showed it in my face. Poor Drew was becoming the *unwilling* 3rd person in a guy/girl grind (well the guys back was to him but he was literally pushing Drew hard into the pillar so there you go...

- drew was like, "SAVE MEEEEE" which was hilarious.
AND goddamn that CO2 came a little TOO early in the night - BAD TIMING!!!! 2 blasts within what seemed like forever, and it seemed to be a DIRECT HIT on where I was STANDING!!!! that shiet was f*ckin FREEZING and uncomfortable i screamed
~
too crowded...we lose yankeebaby halfway thru the night, then one by one ppl disappear from the floor...we go downstairs around 3pm and ppl are hanging out downstairs, and thats where we spent the rest of the night
all of us downstairs (this is such a GREAT picture i think
)

ravi PIMPING it up, girls on all sides...very SATISFIED lol

me and drew - COUPLE SHOT

drew and his boi - who used to party it up back in the days

robdawg with mere

me with Ludawg (Anh) who we haven't partied with for a long time

during the 2nd half, there was definitely some serious mixing going on...Ferry switched off to some breaks - which was intriguing cuz i love breaks but a lot of ppl didnt dance...then it got predictable, throwing down year favorites (like Black is the Colour) altho the remix of A Life Less Ordinary was siiick. Beautiful Things and PUNK were BOTH played (yes Molly, it was great...he played those two tracks during Labour of Love as well; Punk was like meh to me tho) it was fun i guess but i really wanted him to mix in NEWER TRACKS (such as the ones recently heard on TATWs)... it was to the point where we would hear a track, and be able to come up with an awesome track to mix in (if only that had been his intention). lol well it was a fun game that I played in my head while getting thru this so-so period. I mean, Ive been to so many Ferry parties over the past two years or so, i just got listless after while. but to be objective, it WAS a fun set overall tho.
During the last hour, we came up just in time to hear some kickass encores including a FERRY CLASSIC which I captured on VIDEO (god I was debating btwn 3 titles during that entire song, and Jay u are gonna kill me for not being able to title it, i am just horrible at iding and ashamed of myself...hahaa). Prodigy - Smack My B*tch Up finally came (thank you KELLY!!!) which just brought the HOUSE DOWN to until the lights went on. Jay managed to get his jersey and my white hoodie signed by Ferry, Drew, Wai and Mere caught a signed poster he was handing out (i didnt even try for this;' most of the posters in our room I took from various parties ahah) and we finally lcoated the whereabouts of kelly from Wai and Meredith, kels was up in the dj booth the 2nd half lucky girl!!!

oh yeah, memorable mentions of the night
- First NICEST MOMENT:Me in the girls bathroom trying to fix my hair with my hair clips, and this girl next to me by the sink, takes off a larger blue clip and shes like, "do you want this clip? it holds hair very well..." im like, nooooo - but she insists...and even has me sorta step down a lil while she recreates my hairstyle right then and there!! And it does stay...and she created this perfect POUF on my head...goddamns!!! ~ lolz it looked REALY good tho and i gave her a hug...now wow that was SOO reminscent of the ROXY/HAPPY RAVER days ^__^
___________________________________________________
- Second NICEST/funny moment: Meredith is getting dry mouth like crazy later in the night...and asks for gum. Cl005k (Chris Lee) digs into his pockets for the LONGEST time to try to find some...says "Oh I don't have any..." then from the deepest part of his pocket, seems to YANK out a piece of gum (1/4 of a stick), out of its wrapper. Its like bent and shit, and MUST have been cold and hard as SH*T. We all look at it in his hand, then Meredith snatches it, and declares, "I dont care, imma take it ANYWAY i NEEEEED it" and pops it into her mouth. we were all like AWWWW (you just had to be there tho it was a hilarious moment)
___________________________________________________
- I take this pic of ravi, Jay and Wai...

they are all looking at the picture, and then Wai's like "Hey, nice picture, but how come im not smiling?" shes looking at the picture for 5-10 more minutes..and thens like, "....hmmm oh yeah, i AM...smiling." Her smile's was as BIG as DAY.
OH WAI, drunk again... haha

- my friend eugene, whom ive run into on and OFF since the Roxy Days, being cute and funny (he is actually 6'6 and look what he did to be funny)
