dunno if you can get it, but for me it's the Dateq XTC the best 3 channel mixer. Dateq is from the Netherlands. check out Dateq
if you have a Dateq in our country you are the MAN!!!

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-11-2002 20:37:

Hmm..

haven't heard many people talk about Dateq...

there is also peavy, and tascam..

these are companies that make quality audio products, but i don't think they have been in the DJ business (or as they call it, disco) for long.. i think i will stick with Vestax.

Posted by Alccode on Apr-12-2002 03:50:

While we're at it, what would be the major differences, pros/cons of getting a Vestax 275 over a 175? Other than that you can't hear EQ changes in the headphones using a 175.

Is the overall build/sound quality less? It's also not that much cheaper. I'm not too sure if it's worth saving the extra $ for a model that isn't as good.

Any thoughts?

Then im the man

I own a Dateq XTC and it fucking ownz. The faders are so fucking good, and the sound quality is amazing.

Here is some info from the website itself;

The design of the XTC DATEQ deejay mixer arose from the work (dance) floor itself. The result: a compact, 4-channel mixer, Technics sized, with all the facilities required for the perfect mix.
The XTC has four channels, three are equipped with a fader. The channel without a fader has been designed so that a microphone can quickly be connected and can be mixed via the gain control.
The fader channels are equipped with a long, 100mm ALPS fader which runs extremely smoothly. Channels X, T and C are equipped with two inputs, so that line signals such as keyboard, sampler, CD or MD player can be connected as well as three turntables. A push button next to the channel input control allows switching from input 1 to input 2, so that plugging in and unplugging equipment is a thing of the past.

The tone control is just what can be expected from DATEQ. A perfect top for accentuating high hats, an aggressive mid and a groovy bass. Top and bass have a range of plus or minus 15dB (at 12kHz and 50Hz), while mid can be adjusted from minus 12 to plus 12dB (at 1400Hz).
The outermost fader channels are connected to the cross-fader.

To increase speed and ease of operation during mixing, the XTC has so-called 'terminators'. Bass, mid or top can be removed from the X-fader as quick as a flash using these switches (attenuation: bass: -18dB at 400Hz; mid: -18dB at 1400Hz and top: -18dB at 20kHz).
The cross-fader is connected between the outermost channels of the XTC and, together with the channel faders, is VCA operated, in order to exclude interference and to guarantee years of troublefree use.

The transform buttons ensure that the snatches of music from one side of the X-fader are added to the other side.

There is monitoring for each channel, of course, and it is available on an headphone amplifier with "power" (0.3 Watt at 4...32ohm). Split, a unique DATEQ function, allows monitoring and listening to the master signal to be carried out on the headphones simultaneously.

There is no shortage of outputs on the XTC. The master output is balanced and has XLR plugs so that it can be coupled directly to an output amplifier. The master also has a cinch output. The XTC has a monitor out, a sub low output for operation of an (active) low speaker and a second headphone connection.

Because the XTC is used mostly in dimly lit surroundings, it is equipped with a front-mounted 12 volt lamp connection.

Talking

id hafta say the pcv 275 because thats the mixer i have and it owns...

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-12-2002 22:01:

the 275 has a better crossfader, better sound, it's just BETTER overall. it is worth it. that is what i am getting..

one thing i don't like about that dateq.. look where the headphone plug is, that would be in your way.

Posted by ingentis on Apr-12-2002 22:36:

Smile

the 275 is mos def the best mixer ive used. Ive used the pcv 175 and the pcv 03 was it? i went from the 03 to the 175 to the 275 in about a 2 week period and i must say the 275 is BY FAR a better choice. i guess what they say is true, you get what you pay for.

Posted by DJ Darchinova on Apr-15-2002 13:12:

Vestax PCV-175 is best value definatley..
i dont think that the 275 is worth $100+ more for isolators and extra inputs/outputs

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-15-2002 15:54:

It's worth it to hear the EQ changes in the headphones..

i am getting the 275

Posted by MERiDiAN5i2 on Apr-15-2002 16:04:

ugh... hard to believe the vestax 175 doesnt even let you hear the EQ adjustments in the headphones... sounds like a poor design.

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-16-2002 21:02:

yep, i am buying the Vestax 275 tonite hopefully.

Posted by Ugg on Apr-17-2002 21:38:

This may seem like a dumb question at first , but is the Vestax 275 a good mixer for trance?

I was talking to a friend and she said that Vestax mixers were more for scratch b/c they had shorter x-faders, but she might have been talking about older Vestax models since she hasn't kept up with the scene in a while...

For those that have it: Is the x-fader on the 275 good for straight mixing?

I'm definitely thinking about picking one up, it's got the right features and doesn't break the bank on the price.

Thx,
Ugg

It is a great mixer for trance. they classify this as a European Style I think.. which is meant for this kind of music. It can be good for scratching too though. Vestax makes alot of other mixers specifically for scratching.

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-30-2002 00:55:

hmm..

i was pretty much completely decided on getting the Vestax PCV275.

but, then my buddy told me that the 270 had some problems for him. he said it felt like it was cheaply made.

he said they used to be made in japan, but are now made in china, and it shows.

he upgraded his to a Xone:32 and he says he is glad he did it, even though it was like 5 times as expensive.

although he says that, the short channel strips on the Xone:32 are annoyingly short.

now, i am undecided.

also, my other dj buddy told me he might sell me his DJ1000.

it's only 2 channels, but i might get a sweet deal on it.. i would say $500 canadian is a good deal, what do you guys think?

HollywoodDj.com Has the vestax pcv-275 for $370. I am not sure how great there service is though. Sixstardj.com has it for $420 and they say they will beat or match any advertised price and they also have free ground shipping and it also says you get a free pair of sony headphones, (not sure which ones). Good luck man.

bah.. sony shmony!

if i upgrade headphones, it will be to sennheiser 280Pros, nothing made by sony.

they piss me off with their marketing campaigns, insane copyright practices, and inflated prices.

and actually, hollywood will give it up for $349, if you email them for a price quote.

Posted by sirhiss on Apr-30-2002 22:10:

How bout the pmc-37Pro?

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-30-2002 23:50:

yeah.. but i think that is probably a heck of a lot more expensive.

also, i don't like the way the EQs are sliders like that.

Posted by HyPeRSoNiC on Jun-26-2002 10:42:

hey, maybe you ppl can help me too!!!!!!!!
I want to buy a mixer......
here's the details it MUST have:
* it must have at least 4 channels, 19" rack mountable.....
* EQ on each channel + gain. (of course!!!)
* cue in buttons for each channel (duh!)

optional stuff:
* crossfader (don't use it anyway)
* volume leds on each channel (recommended......)

so far, I found 2 mixers meeting those details......
the Stanton RM-100
and the Pioneer DJM-3000

what do you ppl think? anything else you can recommend me? oh! and give me the prices...... thanx in advance.

Allen&Heath Xone:62... about $1200... but you'll never have to worry about having an insufficient mixer

yes. it looks great....... but it's a little too pricey..... and it's not 19" and not rack mountable.......

anything else???

Posted by MERiDiAN5i2 on Jun-26-2002 17:05:

there is a 19" rackmount kit for the Xone:62

http://www.allen-heath.com/xone/Dis...re.asp?view=390

i'd stay away from the stanton stuff... ive heard too many bad stories about thier mixers, and i used to own a RM3S... yuck is about the right thing to say.

maybe a vestax PMC-400 ?? Very much like the RM-100 but vestax kicks stanton all over the map.

okay, first of all, thanx for the advice about Stanton..... but I've heard their TT's are good...... oh well.......

and about the Vestax PMC-400, wow! it definately looks like the one to get..... but I'm in a bit of a Dilema between that Vestax PMC-400 and the Pioneer DJM-3000......
they both look great..... but I dunno what to get...... could you, by any chance, look up the prices for each mixer, and help me a little?

thank you, Mer. you are helping me soooooooo much!!!!

Posted by MERiDiAN5i2 on Jun-26-2002 20:26:

holy G that vestax 400 is EXPENSIVE. looks like those are about 950$ or so from a quick check.

you can bag a DJM3000 for $850 or so.

the DJM3000 seems like it might be one of the best deals on a mixer around...

I'm checking into the price of an xone:62 also, from the same place I got my xone:32... they sell a&h stuff hella cheap because they are 20 min away from where a&h distributes thier stuff in the USA. i'd take the xone62 over just about any mixer...
