some of my jamaican friends have told me some crazy stories about what happens to white people when they leave the tourist area's

Scary thing is that I've met people some people from Germany who still have somewhat of a Nazi Mentality.

Not saying everyone I've met good German people aswell.

Even within the same country, from region to region, racism shows itself. I'm from northern Ontario and it is very different there. I don't know what country is worst as I've not visited many countries. I can say that I've experienced racism being more prevelent in the southern US States than Canada.

I can only hope that some of the people who insist that Canada and/or the USA are two of the most racist countries actually have the opportunity some day to try making a life for themselves in virtually any other country where they don't quite fit the local profile.

Many of the Scandinavian or other European countries are looked at as exceptionally friendly or tolerant, but virtually everyone I've talked to who lives there has had a story for me about their country's local isolationist party that wants to deport all foreigners and has a very large and loyal following amongst the local population.

Not that Europe itself is anywhere near as xenophobic as many parts of Asia or the Middle East. Japan's already started whitewashing their history, I shouldn't even need to mention the whole China/Tibet thing, South Korea and North Korea can't stand each other (or anyone else), and just try flying into Saudi Arabia some day and telling a state official that you don't really understand this whole Wahabbism thing and that they ought to loosen up a bit.

I don't see why people are so shocked by this or so anxious to deny it, either. If you scaled human history down to a single day, then people only really became aware of the existence of other cultures by 11:30 PM, and have only been able to actually see and interact with them since 11:50 or so (airplanes and internet would be within the last minute). It takes a long time for disparate groups to integrate themselves and there's often a lot of conflict and resentment which simply can't be skipped any more than the "ice breaking" stage can be skipped in a successful long-term relationship.

no. the politicians and ideologues can't stand each other. Commies get no good press in SK. But the people still think each other as long lost brothers. Hence why SK is sending shitloads of aid to North each year.

Canada is still the most tolerant country I know of.

Me thinks racism is wack.

we should all start interbreeding untill we all have an odd greyish hue to our skin. then we can all hate on the people from that other earth like planet they just discovered

Actually, it'd be more of a brownish skin colour if everyone started to interbreed

I have lived in seven different countries and visited over 30 others and I can tell you that humans are surprisingly consistent in their behaviour. For both better and worse.....
But I can say that western countries are amongst the most accepting of new immigrants and multiculturalism. Where else do you see so much diverse immigration?

I dunno why people here are saying Canada, if you look overall its a fun and cool place to be, I love it.

Yes there is some racism here in there but hello that something you will find everywhere in world.

Well, depends on whether 'race' is defined by ethinicity in which case we'd have to decide how we're going to judge that or by nationality.
