Come on everyone share your favourite Batswana memories, or Batswanabits.

My favourite Batawana memory is this one time, when I met Baki. And I found out he was from there.

Big ups to Botswana, if elephants counted as people theyd beat out Lesotho in a second!

Botswana has maintained one of the world's highest economic growth rates since independence in 1966, though growth slowed to 4.7% in 2006. Through fiscal discipline and sound management, Botswana has transformed itself from one of the poorest countries in the world to a middle-income country with a per capita GDP of more than $11,000 in 2006.

This is fantastic news. Does the U.S. know about this yet?

We need to tell them if they don't!

All botswana diamonds are conflict free

In case any of you were wondering,

The internet domain in Botswana is .bw (similar to .ca or .com except for Botswana), and the dialing code is +267(unless you have tried to call outside of Canada or The United States you wouldn't have needed this so you might not know about its existence).

The mother of all diversities!!!
Did you know that Papua New Guinea has more than 850 indiginous languages. Talk about a lot of talking!!

The word papua is derived from a Malay word describing the frizzy Melanesian hair.

Talk about a Bad Hair Day!!!!

Posted by shanny on May-06-2007 09:19:

Come on folks, don't be shy, its pop quiz Papua New Guinea style, lets get all your tidbits and fun facts so we can set set the record straight once and for all!

I knew a girl in grade school who lived in Paupa New Guinea

Posted by spitty on May-06-2007 20:45:

joshua i love you. thanks. papua new guinea roxxors

The country became fully independent in 1975 and is now a member of the commonwealth. It has strong ties with australia. papua new guinea is roughly the size of california. It occupies the worlds second largest volcanic island. It has a tropical climate with a plantlife that is a combination of east asian and australian. There has been many political issues in the neighbouring province of Irian Jaya (pronounced Ear-ee-an Ya-Ya) of Indonesia, which caused thousands to flee to Papua New Guinea. In 2001, after many peace-talks, the issue was quieted.

it is home to the elusive tree kangaroo

which is a combination of a kangaroo and a wallabie. they have massive hind legs, shorter and wider feet with long claws and rubbery soles for a better grip, long tails and stronger forelimbs for climbing. AND unlike regular boring kangaroos, who can only move by moving both feet at the same time, tree kangaroos can move their legs independently!

cuscuses are also native to papua new guinea

This animal is most similar to the sloth, but does not have the same attitude. They are much more active and energetic. They are tree-dwelling, noctural animals, who can grow up to 2 feet long (without tail). They are herbivores.

also papua new guinea has the worlds largest butterfly, called the Queen Alexandra Birdwing butterflies

which has a wing span of up to ONE FOOT. thats huuuge people (pretty colours too!)
