Sounds pretty good already! Was that all in Fruityloops?
If so, it'd be cool to post up the .flp file.
(The pvd.zip file had the error "does not appear to be a valid archive")

yeah... FLP-file would be nice..if U have done that with Fruity?

Posted by mantisnl on May-03-2002 11:46:

the pvd.zip worked for me.. but there`s 2 much flanger in the mail mel imo..

i`ll make a bit of a remix of the track also.. i`ll upload asap

got some noice things in ma mind

Posted by cyrus2k2 on May-03-2002 16:39:

yeah, 2much flanger. i fixed it already. i was too lazy to tweak&tune all that fx-channels, so i put some quick 'generic' fx presets onto channel 10 that was used by ALL synth. what a mess...

and yes, of course i can upload the flp file of that track. the problem is that i use some other plugins, fx and vsti, that are not included in fruityloops. so you probably won't hear the same sound that i will.

Cheater!! Just kidding.
BTW in hymn.mp3 did you change the reverb on the little staccato sequence, or is that the way I set it?

Cyrus2k2, now I got that PVD.zip open Really nice work

It would really be nice to heare that other song ass well in Frutiy Don't worry about those plugins...

Posted by cyrus2k2 on May-04-2002 11:12:

I think i've changed all of the fx-settings. but i'M not sure. i started a new track, and as usual i put reverb, delay2, flanger and phaser on fx channel 10 (used by all kind of synths). it works as a kind of template for me.
i'll prepare a new flp file for all of you. trying to remove those plugins, instead i'm going to use the fruity-plugz. so you will get those fx settings and all the other tweaks&tunings.

Got the pvd.zip file. The new lead sound is certainly an improvement over what I did ('nuff picking on that phaser already!)...I clean forgot about that "? - Load Sample" trick in the 3osc! What made you choose the rounded saw?

Posted by cyrus2k2 on May-07-2002 16:26:

sorry for waiting guys, but the flp file comes soon. i swear.
now that i have learned how to 'program' a synth and i played around with the 3xosc alot, i started to program some patches for Absynth.
here is my first try. it's the melody of the Svenson&Gielen Remix of 'Minimalistix - Close Cover'. I think it comes really close to that special S&G sound. what do you think?

Sounds great, you obviously know what you're doing or at the very least you have a good ear.

Absynth is pretty hefty, it doesn't lend itself well to instant gratification, I don't think. (Unless you're a preset biter!) That or I'm still getting over the learning curve.

I got a hold of the closecover.zip file. It made my machine go "dudu-du-dudu-du*CRACKLE*SPUTTER*KAPUT*" but it gave me a chance to have a closer look at those Absynth patches and such.

Cyrus, care to demystify the choices of FM and sine, and the rounded saw in one of the 3xosc's? I can see that they work, but I have no clue how or why...
