Hmmm if you want to color do some lowlights in a darker color ,like one step down from your natural color ..and some highlights in one color lighter than your natural color. It'll all balance out. You can cut it in a choppy angeled style..who did I see recently on here who had it..Stace maybe? I don't remember. It'll look nice with your face shape. The lighter colors in your highlights would bring out your eye color.

You should PM or just as wiener, she was/is a hairdresser. She'd be able to give you some professional sexy tips.

I think it would look good on you

As for colour... is it natural colour you have now, or dyed?

Myra: want a cheap color and cut? find the nearest local beauty school. they will do it cheap (relatively cheap compared to normal salons) and they do a pretty good job. they are normally the students that are almost done with the program and they have someone supervising them the whole time.

ahhhhh, i've considered getting a short cut like some of those but i'm too scared that i'll look like a 12-year old boy! i don't know if i could ever bring myself to do it, even though it may look cute on me.

my natural color is a light golden brown, but i like the way darker hair looks on me so ive been dying it dark brown with a reddish tint for a while now.

i just have no idea what color highlights/lowlights would look good. i'm such a n00b when it comes to this stuff, lol.

yeah i actually looked into that. foils/highlights/lowlights are between $31-$37 at the Aveda Institute... definitely more affordable than the $80 i paid a few years ago!

yah! one of my exes was in beauty school and id go there sometimes cause it was DIRT cheap! now i just go to this fantastic sams and go to the same guy every time. im going to be coloring my hair for the first time ever in a week. going a little darker than my natural color. i love the color of my hair when its wet so im going to try to achieve that color.

Posted by RandomGirl on May-01-2007 18:13:

The only problem is, with your hair already dyed, it is likely that if you try to put highlights in, you will get a nasty brassy look.

I think you want to go with highlights...

I don't think you need to be worried about looking like a boy. You have a very feminine face. I don't suggest going as short as I have, but the pics I posted are a decent length, are fun and whispy, and wont take forever to grow out a little longer IF you don't like them.

Well since Summer's coming, the rule is generally to go lighter. I say go for two colors. Some nice big panels of a vibrant red or copper to play off your mahogany, and then some highlights of lighter red/strawberry blonde or blonde. Do that and then get some nice textured layers (esp. around the face, always around the face) and you'll be smokin' fresh! Some shorter layers through the crown and back would really give some manageable shape to your hair too.

I guess you don't have a regular stylist you go to, huh? I was gonna say just talk it through with him/her....cause usually they have good ideas, and know what works best with your hair color/skin tones/etc.

no, i don't think she should do any red. it wont be good for her complexion. go all blonde. streaky blonde. do it myra!

and to be honest, if there's anyone to trust on this board, its jenny, she consistently has hot hair. like without exception. even when everything else is butt ugly, her hair's still really hot

i've been going to the same girl for about 3 years now, but i'll probably end up going to the Aveda Institute for coloring since it's way cheaper than it would be with her.

my hair is already really layered/textured all the way around... it just needs a trim if i keep it like that.

Jamie - blonde is tempting (i've never gone full blonde before, only highlights) and i think it'd definitely look nice with my skin tone, but i don't want to deal with the hassle of touchups and keeping it looking nice. plus i dunno how harsh it would be on my hair to go from dyed dark brown to blonde. i don't wanna end up looking all brassy and yellow... i love kind of dark ashy looking blonde hair, but then again there's sooooooo many blonde girls in Wisco and i don't wanna be boring like that either.

guh!

my version/idea of "streaky blonde" is basically the natural sun stricken type of blonde, and natural looking never goes out of style. if anything, the chunky fake colored look is so 10 years ago. cmon jenny.

It's not though...I go by the trends my hair dresser follows, she doesn't win awards for nothing!

Also, I didn't say to get fake looking color.

The point is just that a couple different colors instead of ONE shade lighter of highlights is where it's at.
