I got kicked out of CEGEP (college in Montreal). It was French, so ended up on private English cegep and finished with a 74% average for my diploma. 14 points higher than I did in high school. It's all about how bad you want it.

After my breakup of a 3 year relationship last October, I actually have a second date with a same person tomorrow night. I've been on some, and they were meh... no second ones. But this one looks promissing, so I'm excited for tomorrow. SO that's my good news. I've always been the long-term type and haven't had any since October. I prolly won't tomorrow, but hey, I'll have a good time.

Is it just me, or 2007 is being a horrible year in general?

LOL!

I don't think it's horrible. I don't really think that way. Shitty stuff happens, but life is still what you make it. At least in Canada anyways.

Not that youre going to fail a bunch of classes.

Anyone who does less than 6 years of school is missing out on life IMO.

PS: Congrats Jenny

This is all weed's fault, you know that right?

I locked my fuckin' job interview DOWN! Right from the first question I could tell I had it in the bag. I still have to wait for her to call me back on Monday, but the employer said at the end, "Consider this verbal confirmation that you're hired." So if that doesn't mean I got the job, I dunno what does!

I'll be making WAY more money than I anticipated too! Woo!!

Posted by lcid on May-10-2007 18:35:

congrats Jenny! time for some celebratory anal!

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-10-2007 18:36:

Yeah, plus it was the bf's birthday yesterday and I still haven't given him a present.

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-15-2007 19:10:

OMGOMG life is sweet! I just got called for confirmation of my new job...I start next week!

AND I have an interview at another place tomorrow, except I'll be working as an unregulated RPN, which means I'll get to use a lot more of my nursing skills!!

PLUS, it's fucking nice out today!! I'm going outside to celebrate!!!

I hope you all have good things going in your lives too!!

Posted by CranberryJuice on May-15-2007 19:55:

Congrats jenny for the job

i dont exactly know what is academic probation but u seem determined and im sure u have all the cards in your hand to pass good luck anyway

today i had to refuse a summer job and it sucks....would have enjoyed working there because it had to deal with some european measures (one of my main subject this semester is european law)

but i had to refuse because i should have started working next monday and i have my finals til the 29th may

guess i'll have to find something else but that sucks

on the other hand i decided what i wanted to major in for my last 2 years of uni unless i decide to do a doctorate

international law

that gives me some smile considering the shitty atmosphere i have to go through at home

-going back studyin-

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-15-2007 20:09:

Academic probation means that my grades are only minimally meeting the required standards, and that next year I won't have any room to do poorly, or I'll get kicked out of school. It's the perfect motivation for me to be the overachiever I used to be, w00t!

I hope another equally stimulating job comes along for you Marie.

At the university of Calgary:
Academic Probation

Students will be placed on academic probation if they have achieved a grade point average of 1.70 or greater but less than 2.00 on all courses taken since their previous review.

Students will be permitted a maximum of one probationary period while registered as undergraduate students at the University of Calgary. Students will be required to withdraw rather than be placed on probation for a second time. Probationary periods that have occurred in excess of five years previous will not be counted.

Requirement to Withdraw

Students will normally be required to withdraw from the Faculty if they:

(a) have achieved a grade point average of less than 1.70 on all courses taken since their previous review.

(b) have accumulated a total of five or more full-course equivalent "F" grades.

(c) have achieved a grade point average of 1.70 to 1.99 and have previously been placed on probation.

(d) have accumulated more than five full-course equivalent course withdrawals.

Students placed on probation or required to withdraw will be so advised in writing.

We also call it the deans vacation
