Sound was great -- nice bass, not to low or overwhelmingly loud. I lost my ear plugs last Saturday so was a bit worried but I didn't have a ringing when I left What was the laser/fog guy name, Richard? Anyway met him at Fedde le Grand less than two weeks ago and didn't know he did this stuff! DId a really good job! The lighting at Avalon was really nice too, although a bit in your face at times. Those who didn't go really missed out

Felt like telling those go go dancers to get a room already and let me join you!

First of all, props to the SFTA's that made it to our SouthBay event last night. Especially Rizen for taking the wicked pics. This time he did'nt have much of distraction. We really appreciate the show of support from fellow TAs. We were very happy with the turn out. When we stopped selling tickets and closed the front door last night at 1am the security guy had 393 on his ticker counter. That was our goal in our attendance and we met it.

The evening started slow. People didn't really start showing up til 11pm. I don't get it. We tried throwing in a $2 beer and shot special for the first hour and a half of the night and we still didn't draw an early crowd. I wonder what to do next month. Maybe you guys can throw us some suggestions.

John and Joe did an excellent job trying to feel what the crowd wanted to hear. Joe at one was time switching per track between electro and trance. For a while there, I was getting confused Finally Joe realized that the crowd wanted more Trance last night and good thing he stuck with it.

I was impressed with how the lighting came out last night. The club owner Mike was in the light booth all night and kept showing us how his club lighting works. Big thanks to Crazy Roger for setting up his lasers.

Everyone in the crowd that I talked to seemed very pleased with the party. It was nice to hear words of encouragement from people urging us to throw one again soon which we will next month. Things are looking up down here in the South Bay.

One thing with the bay area clubs is that drink specials don't work.

Hasn't worked for Ruby (who has those free taste testhing things), hasn't really ever worked for Ten15 in the times I've gone, and no where else.

Especially on Friday nights.

Friday night crowds aren't your walkby crowd. They are your DJcentric or EDMcentric crowd who wants to go for the music and drinking is just a luxor -- plus lots of people park and drink in their car! With that, they know that things aren't going to kick into gear until a little later in the night and don't show up until late late evening, but not too late since they tend to crash faster after the workweek.

I am glad you are happy with your turnout. Especially since it's a Friday night. Throwing events in Friday nights is a gillion times harder than Sat nights.

On Sat nights, the hours or arrival actually shift a little later into the night. Your walkby crowd (who tends to be your early exit crowd) tends to show up a bit earlier than the centric crowd. Probably around 11pm. Then the centric crowds show up at midnight or later (this is based on after hours clubs). The walkbys leave sometime after last call (think about Ruby's crowd here and how it clears out a bit at around 2am-2:30am) and then the centric crowd stays until they are pooped or are bored or the place closes.

THat's just what my experience has showed me, at least at EDM-centric clubs. I haven't thrown any events, but when people see me standing there just looking around I am observing...and these are the trends I notice.
