the only way i see this passing is if they give the islanders some incentive. like freebies or 50% off maybe.

P.S. Malek - Conservative Toronto? Are you joking? Toronto is one of the most liberal cities in Canada. I realize that Montreal is even more liberal, but come on - try comparing us to Quebec City or Ottawa.

Toronto is a Liberal city. Not a liberal one.

Please don't confuse the two

That's true, but it doesn't negate what I said - we're comparing to other Canadian cities here, not European ones.

Pssh... so not worth it. Maybe that flies for overpaid execs who spend $20,000 on shower heads and enjoy a few high-priced hookers with their pound of cocaine as a status symbol, but who else has even got that kind of money to blow? 2 hours would cost more than my monthly mortgage.

It's both. There are a handful of powerful and/or influential conservatives in the city, but for the most part we're stuffed with Trudeaupian junkies.

Posted by malek on May-11-2007 23:11:

Trudeau can go to hell and die there.

has the whole world gone mad in this century?

Canada = liberal or insane?! ... to top it all off - the implementation of Sharia Law?!?! i'm gonna move to Nunavut and live in an igloo with the polar bears. seems like there's not one piece of this Earth left where there is sanity.

What were you expecting 40 years of post-hippie nihilism and relativism to lead to, exactly? A new age of enlightenment?

Malek: I didn't know there were people in Quebec who didn't like Trudeau. Rock on - although you're a little late with the dying thing!

hahaha!!! aaah my dear friend, here we meet again - 3 years of political & philosophical spearheaded debating. you're glad to have a court to volley concepts that many are looking up on Wikipedia as we speak. good to have you back! ... i might actually think of joining this forum again.

Pfft, nobody gives a shit about that guy. That's like me saying Charest is an idiot, and saying later on "Oh, I actually meant Travis Charest, his comics suck." You know well enough which Trudeau I was talking about.

Haha - that's the problem, people keep looking these things up on Wikipedia and thinking that they have all the information they need to settle a debate.

I'm not back in any real sense... I just do hit-and-runs. For real debates requiring me to actually think, you'll have to take it offline!

As for this councilor...good idea, on the island though? Mebbe it'll shut up the islanders...bad idea though because NOBODY wants to take a ferry over there for something like that unless they're super desperate.

agreed! i think the idea isn't all that bad, it may liven up the city a bit, i mean there are strip joints right on young st already(obviously i'm not saying thats where the red light district should be, just an example of such sex trade exist, in a very common, high traffic area, and people accept it there..soo..i dont see why it couldn't work in another part of the city on a larger scale, obviously there would have to alot of cops to keep the area from getting too sketchy at like 3 am on a monday, also a time when noone would want to take a ferry in minus 15 weather for a quickie!

Posted by Endlesswave on May-13-2007 12:04:

lol @ 15 min quickie by taking the ferry.

Politically Liberal, and socio- political thought is also generally liberal. Fine if that makes you uncomfortable, but it is a reality.

Funny you should use the word confusion.

A red light district is a great idea...just think about it, Legalizing prostitution now could be the begining of legalizing other things in the future, its the first step towards Toronto being the best city in the world...not including weather
