Perhaps the vocal is to some, but the vocalist on this track shits all over Eric Lumiere, the lyrics are infinitely better written, and Filo & Peri don't touch Spooky as far as production quality.

Really, comparing anything F&P have ever done to anything in Spooky's catalog is a pretty bad idea.

Eh, I only like the Strobelight version and the Diffracted dub. The vocals annoy me a bit.

Even though the production quality is top notch as one would expect, it doesn't actually make the track good. The vocals are extremely annoying and the rest of the track is a bit "meh" as well. The Diffracted Dub seems quite interesting but it's a bit hard to say from the length of that sample.

I dunno... it's just something completely else than I was expecting.

Can anybody confirm whether there are vocals in that version? From what i heard from the beatport sample there were none

Nope, no vocals. Only fragments, chopped up at the beginning and some aaaaaaaaaaaah-textures. Get it, it's awesome.

Posted by Project-K on May-15-2007 15:23:

Don't like the vocals at all. The dub mix is alright, but overrated.

Posted by Floorfiller on May-15-2007 15:44:

i'm not surprised people don't like the vocals. pretty standard "ewwww black female house vocals?"... i enjoy it...thats all i really care about...

People actually like this? Sounds like some utter pop crap to me, oh well.

That's pretty much the greatest type of house music ever created. Huge fan of the soulful diva house

That said, these vocals are no where NEAR divaish. Just because a woman is singing doesn't make it a diva house track. You guys are lame.

Fair enough - obviously music is subjective, and as Jason said, I'm not at all suprised at the fact that people don't care for it, and really not that suprised to see some folks compare it to "The Anthem."

That being said, check out my set (link in sig). Diffracted Dub is rockin'

Lol, I would have never noticed the similarity had you not mentioned it. Good catch.

As for the Spooky track, was this indeed what Sasha played in his Maida Vale EM, or was it just the acapella?

it must of just been an earlier version of the track...

Posted by TranceArmstrong on May-16-2007 05:58:

sounds pretty poppy, albeit well done / produced

a similar sounding track that i like tons better is Pete Doyle & The Rock Solid - What God has Chosen

I think it's just the original version with Sasha's choice of percussion on top. The same breakbeat rides all the way through Sia - Breathe Me (Ulrich Schnauss Remix).

I just remember we were looking for an ID forever. It's strange that the track is big only now, two full years later.

to like this crap, is to be crap. lol. I'm sorry but I've heard all available mixes and the original and I just don't know what you guys are raving about. Tune of the year??? Smoke much?

Not even the Difracted Dub?

One of the best peices of prog I've heard on beatport in a long time...

Posted by capricorn15 on May-16-2007 22:14:

i;ve only heard the original. i agree it is a bit cheesy but i like it nonetheless. didnt like it too much at first but it grew on me. havent heard the diffracted dub, but ill chcek that out when i get home from work.

Posted by nfekted on May-16-2007 22:21:

the productions seem well thought out though but I just don't like it. To each their own.

Posted by Shook1 on May-17-2007 02:46:

Rasta

Pretty nice track. I was also one of the many that couldnt wait for this to be released after Sasha's E.M..

I just dont like too too much of the "pop diva" house vocals myself, but the sounds are out of this world on this one. Good track...but too much hype behind it as said before.. IMO.
