Since you can argue you misused it I personally would try to play the cell phone as a privilege then say something like "I understand I abused this privilege, and would hope that the removal of this privilege would along with my deepest apologies for the mistaken misuse warrent enough punishment. And that I would be able to continue working for you."
Dunno the context in which the mobile was given to you though.

I was just hired on to a new job this week... really good pay, benefits etc. etc.
Anyway, we have the internet, and I am allowed to use MSN at work, or go online if I like. They have told us however, that they can remotely watch all the activity on the computer, and/or that they log everything that is done. I was tempted to log into TA, but being a new job, and the level of inappropriateness on TA, I decided not to.

for me it sounds unbelievably strange: you lose your job because someone else sent you a NSFW message to your cellphone at work???? I could at least understand the situation if you send NSFW stuff with your cellphone but the other way round by just receiving a bad message is enough to lay you off?? Strange world! You are a victim and that not just once but twice!
