Personally, I think it's stinks!

Where are the trance headliners??? Adam Sheridan?? Preach??
What happened to the days of Paul Oakenfold, Johan Gielen, JOOF, Cor Fijnemann, Lost Witness, Pulser, Lange, Orkidea, Nostrum, Jon the Dentist etc etc...

I'm really really dissappointed with the trance line-up and for the first time in 7 years I will NOT be going. MSTRKRFT, WEMF headliner?? *shakes head*. All due respect, the guys are really good... but nowhere close to the class of DJ's WEMF used to bring. I still hope everyone will have fun (without a doubt I'm still sure)

I will however say that the D n'B line-up looks

I completely agree with you...Pendulum is BY FAR the biggest act there and I'm not even that big of a DnB fan...preach and all those other guys

I don't know...the line-up is pretty good for me....Liberator, Preach and Mark EG....I couldn't ask for much more

I love sketchy Camping with good freinds i would go if it was all Dj's i never herd off ... the fact that they have a handfull off good bookings make things twice as good.

You're assuming that the MSTRKRFT crowd is the regular This is London crowd, which it's not. MSTRKRFT has a huge following that spans across more than just our scene.

I think this is a very smart idea for WEMF. As Nuera said, it's no longer 1997, so bringing DJs that appeal to the raver crowd is probably not your best option. Although this is a drastic change for WEMF, they have to get with the times. Each time WEMF rolls around each year, there are always rumours of it being WEMF's last year.

This year's line up was probably a very necessary "make or break" decision.

i don't know if you realized, but it hasn't been called the world trance festival since 1997.

wow i dunno...lookds pretty good to me, plus deadmau5 is there, that should be something quite interesting to hear

It used to be called the "World Trance Festival"? WTF!! No wonder they changed the name.

The D'n'B line-up is great, I don't see a lot of house DJs I like but I understand that they're trying to appeal to a wider audience and I think they'll do well with that. I think this year's event might actually be worth going to, in part because the crowd won't be as sketchy (good for us old-timers who just like to drink in the sun).

As for trance acts... meh, get with the times guys.

I didn't actually say anything about MSTRKRFT in my post. I agree that he has a good following so I think he's a really good booking.

The conversation was about Guv djs like Carlo Lio and other locals that play the glam clubs in the city... they had Mark Oliver play WEMF 2 years ago and as good of a dj as he is I really don't think he was a draw for WEMF. The fickle club crowd would sooner see him at Guv and go home rather than stick it out for 3 days w/o a shower. I personally would love to see some of those guys play WEMF but I just don't know how many more ppl would come.

I agree that they need to get away from the ravey gravy thing and book new talent as that market is pretty much dead but I really don't know how many people that see some of the house locals would go to WEMF to see them in a dirty hangar when they can see them in the city the next night...

I know what you're saying Denis, and I agree for the most part. But you're also making A LOT of assumptions about said "glam" demographic, who knows really?

Three days of camping is a stretch, I agree completely. But honestly, if Carlo (we'll just keep using him as example) was on the bill I think it would be fun to trek up for the night. (again, especially if there were some kind of tribal/ drum medium headliner)

Or maybe I'm just throwing the idea out there that the format of the festival could use a "freshen up".

edit: (again, what do I know really? for all I know the festival could make a ton of cash and has no reason to change in anyway. I'm just throwing ideas out there based on what I see working atm but I really have no clue)
