In the minds of most Torontonians, bitter rivalry > nationalism.

I think most of us still consider Ottawa to be a bit of upstart Ontario team... Maybe the Sens winning the Cup will finally prove that Sens > Leafs last 5 yrs or so.

39 Years and counting...

Geez, if Hamilton got a team, even THEY would be in the Finals before the Leafs

i cant believe this.

so what if the team is based in canada. is it canadas team? no. there was a canadian team that won gold a few weeks ago, but not a lot of people cared or even knew about that.

when have the ottawa senators become the senators of canada or the canadian senators.

this is pro sports. being a Torontonian I cheer for Toronto teams, but the fact that the Senators come from the same country as me has no bearing on my feelings for them. if you like a team, like them for their style of play or for something a bit more significant than just them being from canada.

Even the Toronto FC will make it to their finals before the Leafs

CARL is doesn't matter if they are ANOTHER canadian team......when MONTREAL won in 1993 do you think Toronto fans were cheering for them just because it was another canadian team in the finals....NO WAYYYYYYY!!!! SENS sucks......Giguere is the BETTER goalie....way more experience, he'll win the series for them in 5 games!!! Anaheim wins the 1st two, split in Ottawa, and take the cup at home!!! Selanne deserves a cup too!!!

just for the record, i admire how the sens got into the finals for a change. being stacked with so much talent every year and being knocked out mustve been brutal.

i give lots of credit to the guys on the team to going on a run like they had in these playoffs. not every team can do that.

nah man. i wouldnt say the sens suck. if they did, they wouldnt be in the finals. although imo, the ducks have an advantage over them. what i noticed from last nights game vs. the wings, was the giguere was way out of position on a lot of saves meaning that their was no way he could has a 2nd save if there was a rebound. if that continues, he will pay with letting goals in.

LOL @ Sens suck. They played 3 very strong teams in the playoffs and beat all of them in 5 games. I think beating the Devils and Buffalo , should give them a little credit for being a pretty damn good team. As for Giguere, if Ottawa could get past Miller & Brodeur, I don't think Giguere will be as big a factor as you think. If the ducks want this, they need to score goals, not rely on Giguere to save their ass like he has been.

This will be one amazing matchup !

But in the end .. Sens are going to come out on top.

They are producing better now than ever.. as well as a very very solid D lineup.

The Ducks have alot of producers who can put the puck in the net..

I wouldnt be surprised tho with all the high scoring talent... i think most games will be either 1-0 games or big blow outs.

All in all.. Ottawa has something to prove.. and they are walking in as the much stronger team.. IMO anyways :P

Same thing in 2002 when the Leafs were the last Canadian team in the playoffs. Were Sens fans or Habs fans cheering for the leafs? Nope, so I'm not going to cheer for them just because they're Canadian.

Yeah... no that's not going to happen.
It would be nice to see Selanne win the cup, but it's not going to happen this year. If he wants to beat the Sens he's going to have to pick his game up a bit.

I hate the Leafs not because I love the Sens and therefore have to hate the Leafs, but because I've hated the Leafs organization and their media the day I got old enough to see I didn't have to love them because my Dad did. I DON'T WANT the majority of Leafs fans cheering for my team.

On the other side of the coin I think ppl cheers for Canadian teams because they're sick of seeing southern states teams in markets like Tampa Bay, Carolina and now Anaheim that don't give a shit about the sport unless their team is in the final. I was in S.C last week getting Wayne Gretzky's autograph and there were ppl there actually asking each other who he was.

As much as I would like to see the cup come back to Canada...I have a really hard time cheering for The Sens. I think the final is going to really be one sided and it will be over in 5 with the Sens drinking from Lord Stanley and Alfredson being the first European Captain to lead his team to the cup.

its hard to pick, sen's nocked out my beloved buffalo... but I just do not like the duck's... lets go sen's...

I pick the Sens!! at least i hope because I dont want to see the ducks be the first California team to win a cup GO SHARKS next season!!!

For those who are cheering for Ottawa simply because they are a 'Canadian' team - keep in mind Anaheim actually has more Canadian born players on their roster.

Giguere > Broduer or Miller. If Ottawa can't beat Giguere then Anahiem will take it.
