When I'm at Uni I'll go out once a week, and sometimes more. However, the only big names that ever come to town have been hip-hop DJs.

I don't go as often as I used to. If I go it's mostly because it's a DJ I haven't seen but been interested in for a while or because a lot of friends are going there. Or, to meet up with some of the artists due to work

Gonna see Rob Acid for the first time this Sunday though. Looking forward to that.

I'll say, repetitive autobeatz tend to make me leave the dancefloor and go to the chillout area

I agree with you wholeheartedly rj, it's why I still love trance 9 years on

From the posts here, it seems that trance DJs these days have to throw in 2 minute breakdowns every 10 minutes or so to sustain the interest of their audience. If that's really the case, I feel sorry for them already.

On topic, I used to go every other weekend back in London (rarely if ever to trance nights). Back home there's fuck all happening, so it'll be like once a month when I travel to Oslo for the odd event. The frequency varies depending on how much work I have at uni.

What if they happen to like those tracks too?

Surely that would be the case in most instances.

I love build-up/release type stuff, prolly why I find the incessant banging of tech-trance so boring

Then they wouldn't need a break every 10 mins to sustain their interest, would they?

clubs are really lame around here... but I get to one usually once or twice a month.

San Diego has failed me time and time again at the club scene.
I travel to LA once in a blue moon for a tour

Posted by sleepydragon on Jun-04-2007 15:35:

i used to go out nearly every week but i hardly ever go clubbing anymore

Posted by capricorn15 on Jun-04-2007 15:40:

it depends, but usually at least once a month and 3 times a month at the most.

I've been out raving more times this year than you have in your entire fucking life bruce

I go to see plenty of big name DJs around here. None of them have been trance.

I dunno man, Ive found as Ive got older that I actually prefer not to get mashed at clubs and actually have a better time on the beer. I knoiw what you mean about "good" pills but theyre so rare nowadays its not worth the bother.

Posted by nfekted on Jun-04-2007 22:30:

damn raves were the shit, but they dissapeared in Miami. When I lived in Miami(thank god I'm moving back), I used to go out almost every week. Particularly to club Space.

Posted by Dojomaster26 on Jun-04-2007 22:37:

I go out once every few weeks. Most of what we have here is Breaks, Breaks , Breaks, and lots of Hip-Hop. When I want to hear DJs that play something else, I have to throw the event myself

Obviously. The whole nature of drugs is that they let you experience things you can't while sober. One can (and does) experience music music so there's no difference really.

i'd hardly say that. i was merely pointing out how breakdowns can work in favour of a dancefloor.. since the general concensus seems to believe otherwise. if a set is kept interesting & varied enough i'm sure you could get away without including any, with most trance dancefloors at least. but as kr00t0n said.. the djs in question more than likely enjoy the tunes with breakdowns as much as the crowd do, since they've probably been brought up on the same kind of music.

personally i like to keep the first half of my sets relatively breakdown-free before progressing into more epic stuff towards the end. keeps a nice balance

Anyway, to each his own.

LOL I was thinking of the song since I started reading the thread, AHHHRRRGG my ears hurt already! But yeh, today's pop trance that you listen on asot is deffinately not more dance florr oriented or preffered at least than say good tribal house or techno.
