Does it really matter? Besides, I believe giving more specific recommendations is more helpful than just giving out artist names.

Revelation
Velocity (aka Kid Paul)

Yeah, you recommend Abfahrt and Joey Beltram to someone who just started with trance? Are you serious?

And Kid Paul must be one of the shittiest classic/hard trance producers. Why didn't you recommend his (then) close friends instead: Cosmic Baby and PVD. They are much better choice, even for experienced listeners

That's not my mp3 folder, just specific recommendations of kind of trance I (used to) listen to. And it's approximately 3.26185% of all trance I have.

Sheesh, stop acting like you have a broomstick up your ass. I'm just trying to contribute.

the fact that you listed In Trance We Trust Xtra - Mixed by John Storm which probably is the worst mixed CD in the history of trance music shows how you want to fool people to buy a goat in the sack

Well if he started with asot it would just be a wasteful 5 years until he/she discovers the roots and becomes more musically sensible, so let's just avoid those awkward early years of going to borders and buying tiesto cds and listening to shitty radio shows.

Actually, I haven't listened to any of ITWT mixes in very long time but I remember I used to like all of them so I listed them.

we're looking for producers, not radio shows here. We have enough threads about that but less that could actually give help to those who want to know actual artists.

Oh, ok. Then:

Armin van Buuren
Above & Beyond
Sean Tyas
Tiesto
Paul Van Dyk

I may have missed one or two massive producers.

IMO this thread went crap almost right away. i see no point in listing all the basic "asot-sound" producers because that's what the n00bs will find first anyway as that's what's called and marketed as trance these days for some reason.
and listing those isn't educating them about the history of trance. 2003 isn't history enough to be listed if you ask me. i'm not saying that you aren't allowed to like them or even think they're the best thing ever, but i really don't think they belong in this thread anyway.

edit: didn't read the first post properly. so basically this is just a "list your top 10 producers" thread. dunno how that'll help the n00bs though.

bear with me. After a few days I'll sift through the names, add discogs links, years they produced etc into a main post, there people can find out some info on who produced when, and associate the producers they like with others who produce the same sort of sound. Make more sense ?

You've managed to make a list comprising of: no trance, a shitload of Detroit techno and a few completely random inclusions. Helpful.

My list, for what it's worth:

Paul Van Dyk (pre-2002)
BT (1993-2000)
Spicelab/LSG
Chicane
Tilt
Humate
Jam & Spoon
Mirco De Govia
John Askew
Art of Trance

Posted by RapidFire on Jun-08-2007 22:10:

BT
Paul Van Dyk
Sasha
Faithless
Orbital
Underworld
Way Out West
Blue Amazon

mixing it up with some prog-house there but whatever its a pretty thin line

Yes, but that hasn't got anything to do with this thread.
