I hate to say it, but there's actually someone I want to win in those Idol-like competitions, and it's Paul Potts. If American Idol would stop focusing on the same tried and tested garbage they churn out every season and started finding more people like him, then it would be an excellent show. The guy has fucking talent.

I'd bet good money that it's the producers of American Idol who decide that. Hell, I'd bet my life savings.

I totally agree... the american version of 'talent' is horrbile. They either try too hard not to look for an american idol reject or they embrace them.

BTW, the look on Simons face when he starts singing in the auditions show is priceless. He makes the confused dog look with the pencil in his mouth.

i loved Amanda's reaction, i both clips, but especially in the Nessun Dorma one.

Some comment on youtube says its like she's having an orgasm at the 1:56 mark

andrea bocelli is really good imho. his voice is awesome!

Posted by technofriik on Jun-15-2007 21:46:

Paul Potts isn't bad at all but he can't beat Bocelli....and Bocelli can't beat Placido Domingo

Posted by RandomGirl on Jun-15-2007 23:16:

So wait, are you saying the guy singing it was bad?

I thought it was good.

Paul's good but he can get even better with more training and experience. Bocelli and Domingo are pros already, they're in a different league

lol... self-pwned by laziness.

Ok... so I listened to like 10 different versions of Nessum Dorma just out of curiousity...

And considering how crappy technology was back in the day, I have to give Corelli the benefit of doubt and say he sang it best... a very very very close second is Pavarotti. Mario De Monaco third, Domingo fourth.

Paul Potts is causing a global classical explosion.

Grand Final - The Winner

It was as if the tension would never end - but finally, eventually, painfully... Dec announced Paul Potts as the Britain's Got Talent winner.

It was a moment where futures were made and dreams were dashed. But even though every one of the performers here has an outstanding talent, only one could scoop the big prize tonight.

Two million votes were cast by the British public. For the big winner, welshman Paul Potts, tonight starts a week of newspaper interviews, magazine features and TV appearances. Life won't be quite the same ever again.

As Ant and Dec congratulated the singer - or was that held him up - he told them - "I can't believe I've won it - I'm like jelly. Performing for the Quen means absolutely everything. Thank you for believing in me".

The man Simon Cowell described as "a shy and humble guy with a great talent" will now "be in the recording studio next week making his first album".

As well as the 100,000 prize cheque, the Britain's Got Talent winner recieves an invitation to perform at the Royal Variety Performance, by invitation of her Majesty the Queen.

The Royal Variety Perfromance will be shown on ITV1 on December 3rd 2007. We'll see Paul, our very deserving winner, taking their much deserved place in the spotlight then.

For the opera singer - indeed, for all of the finalists on stage tonight - have proved it - Britain's Got Talent. It's may be kept hidden, it might be a secret. But it's out there. Paul can sing. What can you do?
